Today we’d like to introduce you to Destinee Wilson
Hi Destinee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a native South Carolinian. I grew up in the beautiful city of North Augusta, SC. I attended Clemson University and received my B.A. in Political Science and minored in Communication Studies in 2016. In 2018, I decided to go back to graduate school. I graduated with my JD-MBA degree in May 2021 from the University of South Carolina School of Law and the Darla Moore School of Business. In October 2021, I became a barred attorney.
Law and event planning have been two things that I have been equally as passionate about for as long as I can remember. Getting to live out both of my dreams on a daily basis is something that I can only credit and thank God for making happen.
In my spare time, I enjoy going to the movies, reading, volunteering, “brunching”, and traveling.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like any business, the road has not been smooth. I think the toughest challenge for me was to not get discouraged and to keep going even when business was slow. I think that can make any business owner question themselves and the future of their business. I would encourage every business owner to keep going because the world needs your business.
As you know, we’re big fans of DSW Consulting Agency LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
DSW Consulting Agency LLC was created in 2021 but has been a secret prayer for as long as I could remember. DSW Consulting Agency LLC specializes in full event planning, destination event/wedding planning, and day of event/wedding coordination. Growing up, I watched my grandmother be the wedding planner for many beautiful events. I fell in love with seeing the look on people’s faces on their big day, and I knew that was something that I had to do. What sets me a part from other businesses is that I stop at nothing to make sure each client’s vision comes to life. Additionally, I love pairing my legal background to help review contracts with vendors. This helps give my clients peace of mind knowing that they are fully taken care of throughout the planning process. The motto I use when working with clients is that I want my clients to “enjoy the experience they have always dreamed about”. I am mostly proud of how much confidence my clients have in me when executing their event. I believe that although my business is still small, my clients will never forget the beautiful events I helped them execute, which I hope will lead them to referring my services to others.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My best advice is for them to remember that it is okay to start slow. I quickly became discouraged when my business did not take off immediately. I would just say to them to stay the course because their time is coming before they know it. I would also encourage them to remember that it is okay to take breaks and rest. We all need it. A business cannot thrive if the business owner is pouring from an empty cup.
