Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Tiller
Hi Denise, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The way Layers Of Healing Massage And Bodywork, LLC came about is through a long process of figuring out what I wanted to do as my career choice. Over the years I’ve tried it all from fast food, retail, childhood education, hospital work, teaching piano, art classes, to finally massage therapy. My mother would always tell me that I had brought a little piece of Heaven with me. That I have a certain aura and healing touch. So I wanted to share it with others. Everyday I get to share my gift to my clients and bring healing to their bodies. My favorite part about what I do is that when I finish a client’s massage, their results are almost always immediate. Their pain is gone and they feel really good. I’ve had to overcome my personal mental health struggles overtime that were affecting my decision making and thought processes along the way. Now I’m in a much better place, thriving at what I Love, and still able to model on the side. I even wrote my first Autobiography titled “The Way I Perceive Life” that is now available on Amazon. I’m very grateful for my faith in Jesus, piano, and art that has gotten me through very dark seasons of my life, and with the support of my close family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an easy road by any means to get to where I’m at now. I’ve had 8 hospitalizations, and really difficult side affects from being on and off certain medications throughout the years. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder last February. I’m what they call a Seer, who is able to see both angels and demons, and seeing into the spiritual world can be frightening at times. I would go into the fight-or-flight mode and run away from home. My family would be so worried about my safety. But through time, patience, growing my faith, and spending time with God, I became fearless of what I now see.

My Mother has played a major role in where I am today. She has been my biggest support in life along with my Father and Sister. My Mother would tell me STTP (stick to the plan). The plan of finishing Massage school and earning my certificate and license. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them honestly. Also my teachers from Southeastern College, Mrs. Amell, Mr. Reeves, Mr. Crotts, Mr. Elkins, Mrs. Finn, and others. They all made sure that passing the MBLEx was smooth and attainable.
