Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been many obstacles to not only becoming an entrepreneur but also a full-time business owner. While working in the corporate world for over 13yrs there was a sense of security in knowing what my pay would look like semi-monthly. Over producing would bring incentive bonuses however there was still guaranteed pay if there was a slow month. There were insurance benefits and PTO.
As an entrepreneur in a startup business, PTO isn’t a thing starting off. No work, no pay (lol). Self employed insurance benefits are far from competitive and you are in total control of the businesses success. No production, no pay. Little production, little pay. You’re the manager, employee, HR personnel, marketing director, accountant, and everything in between. While these roles can be both time consuming and a challenge the success of your business depends on all of them.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The Covid 19 crisis was definitely a period of the unknown. For myself, this was a time that occurred shortly after I’d stepped into full-time entrepreneurship. While the thought was that I’d need to overdose on marketing, and really pushing my business; myself with I’m sure many other business owners was presented with the unknown. Not being able to hit the community and fully promote, I was pushed to uniquely figure out how to do business. It was necessary to create ways to provide contactless business. Customers still had a desire to celebrate meaningful occasions but also on a smaller scale. This period forced the need to provide smaller batch orders along with product offerings that were more budget friendly. Adjustments had to be made to adapt to the current needs of those affected by the crisis. Not only was this a lesson learned but also an opportunity to grow in times or uncertainly. Questions like, will my business survive?, did I make the right move, or simply what the heck is happening right now? Are all questions that crossed my mind. Praying constantly, providing self motivation, staying the course, and having an awesome support system and customer base help my business to survive the storm. Many business didn’t have that testimony. This makes me very humbled and thankful for what I do.
