Exploring Life & Business with Cheryl Martineau of Where’d You Get That?

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Martineau.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Where’d You Get That? entered a new era of ownership in 2023, What started as a thoughtful reimagining has evolved into a refined boutique known for its curated selection of upscale women’s fashion, accessories, and distinctive home furnishings.

The store was honored as Best Consignment Store in Beaufort in both 2024 and 2025 and recognized among South Carolina’s Top 10 Consignment Stores-a testament to its commitment to quality and discovery.

Today, Where’d You Get That? is more than a consignment store. It is a sought-after shopping destination in Beaufort where sophisticated coastal aesthetic meets curation, and every piece tells a story of style.

At the heart of the store is the commitment to both consignors and customers – and to the exceptional team that make it all possible. The staff at Where’d You Get That? brings warmth, expertise, and a genuine passion for style that elevates every visit. Consignors trust that their items will be represented with professionalism and care. Shoppers know they will find pieces that feel curated, not cluttered.

Where’d You Get That? is not just a place to shop – it is a place to discover. Once you walk through the door, you will understand exactly why Beaufort keeps coming back.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Raising the bar meant making harder decisions – from tightening acceptance guidelines to redefining what a boutique-level experience looks and feels like. Training and aligning an existing team around a new standard required patience, clear communication, and consistent leadership. The work was not always easy, but the results speak for themselves.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is our approach. This is not typical resale store. Every item is hand selected with intention, styled into livable vignettes, and presented in a way that inspires customers to see how pieces can work in their own homes.

We are particularly known for our strong point of view- clean, collected Lowcountry style with an emphasis on quality over quantity.

At the core of this business is commitment to sustainability and community. We give exceptional items a second life while supporting local consignors, designers, and homeowners. Many of our customers visit regularly, knowing inventory is constantly changing and that each visit offers something new to discover.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most is intentional curation, uncompromising quality, and trust. The goal is to create an experience-one where customers feel inspired, where every detail is elevated, and where consignment is redefined as something thoughtful, sophisticated, and truly special.
