Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Lee.
Hi Cheryl, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve spent more than 30 years in healthcare, starting in cardiac and emergency nursing in 1991. While I loved the intensity and impact, I began to question why so much of medicine was reactive instead of proactive.
That led me to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and eventually transition into integrative and functional medicine, where I focus on root causes, prevention, and long-term wellness rather than just symptom management. I’m currently pursuing advanced doctoral studies in integrative medicine, continuing to deepen my approach to whole-person care.
I founded Medicine Wheel Wellness as a telemedicine weight loss practice, helping patients regain control of their health. As my vision expanded, I created VITALee Wellness Group, a concierge-style practice that combines hormone optimization, metabolic health, peptides, and regenerative medicine into personalized care.
Today, I help patients restore energy, balance hormones, and rebuild their health from the inside out. By blending functional and regenerative medicine with evidence-based care, my goal is not just to help people feel better—but to truly optimize how their bodies function.
I believe health is about more than fixing problems—it’s about helping people rewrite their story, because the rest is still unwritten.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not even close, and honestly I would be worried if it had been.
Healthcare teaches you how to take care of patients, not how to run a business. One of my biggest challenges was learning everything that comes with entrepreneurship, including marketing, systems, staffing, and finances, all while still showing up fully for my patients. There were times I felt stretched thin trying to balance being a provider, a business owner, a wife, a mom, and now a grandmother.
I have also had to navigate the realities of a rapidly changing industry. From medication shortages and pricing pressures to increasing competition, there have been moments where I had to pivot quickly and make tough decisions to protect both my patients and my business.
And if I am being honest, one of the hardest lessons has been learning to let go of doing everything myself. I am someone who cares deeply, so stepping back and building systems and a team I trust did not come naturally, but it has been essential for growth.
That said, every challenge has pushed me to become more focused, more resilient, and more intentional about the kind of practice I am building. I do not see the struggles as setbacks. I see them as part of the process of creating something meaningful and sustainable.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At VITALee Wellness Group, I’ve built a concierge-style health and longevity practice focused on helping patients restore energy, optimize hormones, improve metabolic health, and truly feel like themselves again. My approach blends functional medicine, regenerative medicine, and evidence-based care to uncover the root cause of symptoms rather than simply managing them.
I specialize in hormone optimization for both men and women, medical weight loss, peptide therapy, and personalized metabolic health programs. What I’m most known for is helping patients who feel stuck or have “tried everything” finally get real, sustainable results by addressing the deeper drivers of their health, such as inflammation, insulin resistance, gut health, and hormonal imbalance.
What sets my practice apart is that we don’t rely on a one-size-fits-all model. Every patient receives a personalized roadmap based on their history, labs, and goals. Our clinical team also shares a strong background in emergency medicine, which has shaped how we approach care. It has made us highly skilled at recognizing patterns, thinking critically, and treating the whole patient, not just isolated symptoms.
I focus heavily on education and partnership so patients understand what is happening in their bodies and feel empowered to take control of their health long term. I often tell patients that this is not about quick fixes or temporary results, it is about rebuilding health from the inside out.
I’m especially proud of the brand we’ve created because it reflects both clinical excellence and genuine care. Patients are not rushed through visits or treated like a number. They are heard, supported, and guided through a structured process designed to create lasting change. Many of our patients come to us frustrated, exhausted, and discouraged, and watching them regain their energy, confidence, and quality of life is incredibly rewarding.
Through both VITALee Wellness Group and Medicine Wheel Wellness, we’ve been able to reach patients locally and through telemedicine, expanding access to high-quality, personalized care. We will also be adding direct primary care for families in the near future, allowing us to support patients across all stages of health with a more comprehensive, relationship-based model of care.
As we continue to grow, my goal is to build a scalable model that maintains that same level of connection, integrity, and results while helping even more people experience what true health can look like.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that our work goes beyond weight loss or hormone therapy. We are helping people rewrite their health story and create a foundation for long-term vitality and longevity.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could go back and give myself advice, I would say this: learn the business side earlier. Healthcare teaches you how to take care of patients, but not how to build something sustainable around that care. Understanding systems, pricing, marketing, and team building is just as important as clinical knowledge if you want to grow.
I would also tell myself not to try to do everything alone. In the beginning, I wore every hat, and while that taught me a lot, it also slowed me down. Building the right team and trusting them is what allows you to scale and actually enjoy what you’re creating.
Another big lesson is to stay clear on your values and your vision. It’s easy to get pulled in different directions, especially in a competitive space, but not every opportunity is the right opportunity. The more focused you are, the stronger your brand becomes.
I’ve also learned to trust my inner voice and intuition when making decisions. Not everything shows up on a spreadsheet, and some of the best decisions I’ve made have come from being still, listening, and moving forward with clarity and purpose.
And finally, be patient with the process. Growth takes time, and there will be challenges, setbacks, and moments where you question everything. That’s normal. The key is to stay consistent, keep learning, and remember why you started.
If you’re building something meaningful, it’s worth it.
