Exploring Life & Business with Beth Kyle of Skinsations by Beth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Kyle.

Beth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been an esthetician for seven years, and I spent the first three years of my career working in a medical spa. That’s where I really built my foundation—working with different skin types and conditions and gaining experience with advanced treatments.

I always knew I wanted to own a business someday, but I never imagined it would happen at 21. After a change in management at the medical spa, the environment and direction of the business were no longer the right fit for me. I found myself at a crossroads much earlier than expected: I could start over working for someone else, or I could take everything I had learned over those first three years and finally take a chance on myself. So, probably before I felt completely ready, I chose the latter and opened Skinsations by Beth.

It was definitely a leap of faith, and growth didn’t happen overnight. I built my clientele one person at a time by staying consistent, continuing my education, focusing on results, and building genuine relationships with my clients. Word of mouth and referrals became a huge part of my growth.

At 23, I opened my first storefront, which felt like such a huge accomplishment. Two years later, I unexpectedly had to leave that space and start over. It was incredibly disheartening at the time, but ultimately it pushed me toward something even bigger.

Now, at 25, I’m opening The Beauty Exchange, a larger and more beautiful space that will be home to Skinsations by Beth while also giving other beauty professionals the opportunity to grow businesses of their own. When I think back to being 21 and feeling like I was taking this enormous risk, I never imagined I’d be where I am today. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve built, but even more grateful for the clients and people who trusted and supported me enough to help me get here.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. One of the first challenges I faced actually started before I ever owned a business. I entered the medical spa industry very young, and there were times when I felt like my age made it harder to be taken seriously, even as I gained experience and became confident in my knowledge. I learned early on that I couldn’t control people’s first impressions of me, but I could control the quality of my work and how seriously I took my career. In a way, that became fuel for me to keep learning, and eventually build something of my own.

Once I opened my business, the challenges changed. There were months when my books were slow and I genuinely didn’t know how I was going to make everything work financially. I considered getting another job more than once, but I knew that if I wanted my business to grow, I had to be available when the clients came. So I found other ways to make ends meet. I cleaned houses for people I knew, sold clothes and other items online, and did whatever I needed to do while continuing to build my clientele.

Being an entrepreneur so young could also be lonely. A lot of my early twenties were spent either in the treatment room or behind a computer working on marketing, social media, networking, and the backend of my business. I had very few people who truly understood why I was working so hard, and I’m incredibly grateful for my husband, who continued pushing me forward during the moments when I doubted myself.

Losing my first storefront was probably one of my lowest points. I remember feeling like I was a young woman trying so hard to make something of myself, yet I kept getting knocked back down.

But I kept going. Looking back now, I realize those experiences taught me to trust myself, stay consistent, and keep moving forward even when I couldn’t see how things were going to work out. Some of the moments that felt like my biggest setbacks at the time ultimately pushed me toward opportunities I may have never pursued otherwise.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Skinsations by Beth is a results-driven esthetics practice specializing in customized skincare and brow services. My background in medical aesthetics has had a huge influence on the way I approach my work. I don’t believe skincare should be one-size-fits-all. Every client’s skin, lifestyle, concerns, and goals are different, so I really take the time to understand what we’re treating and create a plan specifically for them.

Over the years, I’ve become especially known for corrective skincare, customized facials, and brows. I love working with clients who are dealing with concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, and aging, but I’m equally passionate about helping someone simply maintain healthy, beautiful skin. I also offer services such as derma-planing, micro-needling, brow laminations, lash lifts, and body waxing.

I think what sets my business apart is the relationship I’ve built with my clients. I never want someone to feel like they’re simply coming in for a service and leaving. I want to educate them about their skin, be realistic about what we can accomplish, and build a relationship where they know I genuinely care about their results.

Brand-wise, I’m probably most proud that Skinsations by Beth has grown largely through reputation and word of mouth. Having clients trust me enough to refer their friends and family is one of the biggest compliments I can receive. I’ve never wanted to build a business around simply getting as many people through the door as possible; I’ve wanted to build one where people come back because they feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in the work I’m doing.

What does success mean to you?
My definition of success has definitely changed over the years. When I first started my business, success meant having a full schedule, paying my bills, and being able to support myself doing something I loved.

Now, success means having the freedom and stability to enjoy the life I’ve worked so hard to build. It’s having time for my husband, family, and the people I love while still being proud and excited about my business. I’ve learned that being constantly busy isn’t necessarily the same as being successful. To me, real success is building a business that supports the life I want to live, rather than having my entire life revolve around my business.
