Exploring Life & Business with Austin Lengacher of New Hope Thrift

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Lengacher.

Hi Austin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The key to the success of the store is God providing for us! In faith, our church began cleaning up the project before the funds showed up. Our current building was a demolition project in it’s previous state. But with vision and a lot of hard work – the building was restored. Our building and business is now a shining light to the community. Literally! The community has responded well with shopping locally and giving us plenty of donations. They have embraced us with their encouragement. We are able to support missions within SC and abroad. We give back to our local community and are hoping to contribute to a local park soon.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the struggles has been getting sufficient help to keep up with the demands of being a beloved place to donate. We rely heavily on volunteers, as well as paid staff. But God continues to bring us hard workers from Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and locally as well.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about New Hope Thrift?
We are a thrift store with a mission! We aim to help inmates that need a fresh start. We aim to help an international mission organization. We aim to give back to our local community. And thankfully, through God’s provision, we have done just that.

We are a “boutique” thrift store and we focus on selling quality items at a fair price.

What matters most to you? Why?
We want to see God glorified. We want our local community to see God’s love through us.
