Today we’d like to introduce you to Ané Roos.
Hi Ané, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ané, I’m 22 years old, and animals have been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in South Africa surrounded by pets and farm animals, and from a young age, I felt connected to them in a way that went beyond words. I’ve always understood that deeper, non-verbal language animals speak—their energy, their emotions, and the subtle ways they communicate trust. That instinct has shaped my entire life.
When I moved to the U.S., I naturally became the person friends and neighbors turned to whenever they needed help with their pets or livestock. Along the way, I’ve been lucky to work with so many incredible animal lovers—owners, trainers, rescuers, and everyday people with huge hearts. Their passion and dedication have inspired me and pushed me to grow, both personally and professionally.
What started as helping out here and there eventually grew into something much bigger. I realized how much families needed a dependable, empathetic caregiver who truly understands animals, from dogs and cats to reptiles and farm animals. That’s how Cuddle Crew Pet & Farm Services came to life.
Today, I serve families across Simpsonville, Greer, and the surrounding areas, offering care rooted in compassion, communication, and genuine love. I’m also an aspiring veterinarian, currently working toward my future in large-animal and equine medicine. Cuddle Crew has become the perfect bridge between my passion, my background, and the career I’m building—and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s inspired me along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Starting a business in a new country while juggling school and my dream of becoming a veterinarian has pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. There were times when I felt overwhelmed—when balancing work, family, and my studies felt almost impossible. But I’ve been blessed with the most amazing support system, and I honestly wouldn’t have been able to do this without them.
One of the most complex parts was building trust in the community from scratch after moving to the U.S. When people hand you their pets and their homes, they’re giving you something incredibly precious. Earning that trust took time, consistency, and a lot of heart. I had to show up in every sense—reliably, calmly, and with genuine care; even on the days when I was exhausted or unsure of myself.
There were moments of self-doubt, times when I wondered if I was doing enough or growing fast enough. But every challenge taught me something: how to communicate better, stay organized, keep a cool head in stressful situations, and believe in my own abilities. Those struggles shaped me into not just a stronger business owner, but a more compassionate future veterinarian and a more grounded person overall. And looking back, I’m grateful for every step of the climb.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about CUDDLE CREW PET & FARM SERVICES?
Cuddle Crew Pet & Farm Services is built on truly understanding animals — not just their routines, but their personalities, fears, quirks, and unspoken needs. I offer pet sitting, farm sitting, overnights, medication administration, enrichment, and custom care for everything from house pets to reptiles and livestock. What I’m known for is taking the time to really connect. I don’t believe in quick check-ins; I believe in patient, intuitive care that makes animals feel safe and understood.
Growing up in South Africa around all kinds of animals taught me how to read their non-verbal language, and that instinct is still a massive part of how I work today. Because of that, I specialize in animals who need extra attention — anxious pets, seniors, or animals with medical or emotional needs.
Another thing that sets Cuddle Crew apart is communication. I use a service tracking app so every client receives detailed updates, photos, notes, and complete transparency during every visit. Whether they’re five minutes away or across the country, they always know exactly how their animals are doing.
And I’m not doing it alone. Nikita has been working with me for years, and I’ve taken her under my wing as she’s grown into an incredible caregiver. She is gentle, patient, and truly adored by our clients and their pets. Having her as part of the Cuddle Crew team is something I’m very proud of — she shares the same values, the same heart, and the same commitment to caring for animals with intention.
What I want readers to know is that Cuddle Crew isn’t just a service — it’s care with purpose and compassion. Every animal becomes part of our extended family, and we treat each home, farm, and pet with the respect and love they deserve. This business is not only my passion but also a big part of my journey toward becoming a veterinarian, and I pour my whole heart into it.
How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t measured by numbers or achievements; it’s measured by trust, connection, and the moments that remind me why I do this. If an anxious animal finally relaxes around me, if a family feels true peace of mind while they’re away, or if someone tells me I’ve made their life easier, that feels like success.
Success also means growing into the person and future veterinarian I want to be. Every animal I care for, every challenge I navigate, and every bond I build teaches me something valuable. It’s about becoming more confident, more compassionate, and more capable with each experience.
Success is doing what I love with integrity, intention, and heart — and knowing that I’m making a real difference, one animal and one family at a time.
