Today we’d like to introduce you to Tray Bey.
Hi Tray, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with basketball. Growing up, the game taught me discipline, resilience, leadership, and how to keep pushing forward even when things didn’t go as planned. I played college basketball and eventually had the opportunity to continue my career internationally, playing in different countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
While playing professionally, I started realizing that there were many talented athletes who had the ability to play internationally but didn’t know how to access those opportunities. That’s when I decided to turn my experience into something bigger.
I founded Bey Sports Agency & Consulting to help athletes build their brands, prepare professionally, and connect with opportunities around the world. What started as a vision has grown into an international basketball business that has helped place hundreds of athletes overseas.
Today, I’m focused on creating opportunities beyond traditional player representation. Through Bey Sports Agency, Bey Hoops Training, Bey Elite, and the Bey Thai League, I’m building platforms that give athletes exposure, experience, and pathways to the next level.
My story is still being written, but the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you don’t have to wait for someone to give you an opportunity—you can create one. My goal is to continue building, connecting people globally, and helping the next generation of athletes go further than they ever imagined.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. The journey has had plenty of challenges, setbacks, and moments where I had to question whether everything would work out. Building a business in the international basketball space while creating my own opportunities came with a lot of trial and error.
There were times when opportunities fell through, people doubted the vision, and I had to figure things out without having all the answers. But every setback taught me something and made me better prepared for the next opportunity.
What kept me going was believing in the vision and understanding that success isn’t built overnight. I stayed consistent, kept building relationships, learned from my mistakes, and continued putting myself in position to grow.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but honestly, I wouldn’t change it. The challenges helped shape who I am today and gave me the experience to help other athletes navigate their own journeys.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in international basketball, athlete representation, player development, marketing, and creating professional opportunities for athletes. My focus is helping players position themselves for opportunities overseas while also helping them understand the business side of their careers.
What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve been able to make on athletes’ careers. I’ve helped hundreds of players connect with opportunities internationally, while also building platforms like Bey Sports Agency, Bey Hoops Training, Bey Elite, and the Bey Thai League. Seeing athletes take a chance on themselves, earn opportunities, and grow professionally is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
What sets me apart is that I’ve actually lived the journey myself. I’m not just representing athletes from behind a desk—I’ve played internationally and experienced the challenges of navigating different countries, leagues, coaches, and opportunities firsthand. That experience allows me to understand both sides of the business.
I also believe in creating opportunities rather than simply waiting for them. I’m constantly building relationships, developing new programs, and finding different pathways for athletes to get exposure. My goal is bigger than placing a player on a team—I want to help build their career, brand, network, and long-term future.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say consistency is the most important characteristic behind my success. Talent can open a door, but consistency is what keeps you moving forward.
There have been plenty of challenges and setbacks throughout my journey, but I’ve learned to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep finding solutions. I’m also very big on building relationships and treating people with respect because in this business, your reputation and how you conduct yourself can open doors that money can’t.
Most importantly, I believe in myself and the vision I’m building. Even when other people don’t see it yet, I’ve learned to stay focused, keep working, and let the results speak for themselves.
