Daily Inspiration: Meet Soweto Moody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Soweto Moody.

Hi Soweto, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
GR Productions LLC started in October of 2020 shortly after my release from prison and a month after the loss of someone very dear to me, my dad. George Rouse. My dad was always on me about the people who I hung out with and leaving the street life to do something legit so I can lead a better life and not have to worry bout going back and forth in the system. Sadly, it was 9/4/20 which was also my dad’s 70th birthday when I lost him to cancer. I was in a prison cell when I got the news.

But it was then when I made the vow to be the man that I knew he wanted me to be. I was released from prison the next month 10/5/20 and later established GR Productions LLC. A promotion company that also offers Party & Entertainment Services. I have always been a hustler and a go-getter at heart and my dad always labeled me as “Da 1”. The baby out of 13 children I’m definitely the black sheep lol and have always been different. But of course, GR PRODUCTIONS was formed in honor of my beloved dad (GEORGE ROUSE).

I jumped into this business without any knowledge of it at all, but I was determined, and I was ambitious. Very Ambitious. Many people didn’t take me seriously at all but after consistently bringing some of the biggest names in the hip hop industry to the Augusta, GA nightlife, the people were starting to get the picture. I learned quickly and lost a lot of money, but you gotta take a loss to be the boss right?

Through every loss, I learned a valuable lesson. I stayed consistent, I stayed hungry, I remember(ed) my purpose and I kept a clean face and always did great business and kept God first, which is why today I’m humbly the biggest promoter in Augusta Ga & the CSRA‼️

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely wasn’t a smooth road. Bad investments, very few supporters.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a promoter/event host. I bring the celebrities/artist that the people want. I’m known in my profession for standing on my word and being a great businessman. Never do false advertising. The people know that if Soweto the CEO of GR PRODUCTIONS say that a celebrity artist is coming to the city or wherever then they coming. I don’t do the junky promotion.

My brand is everything and all business get handled. I’m most proud of how I was able to put my whole family in a position to work and get money. This is definitely a family business. Everyone has a position. My mom, brothers and sisters, and even my cousins lol. GR PRODUCTIONS consist of nothing but FAMILY members and I’m honored, blessed, and proud just to be able to turn my whole family around and get them involved.

All praise be to God. What set me apart from others is that I don’t limit myself. I don’t try to fit in, I’m an idealist, I have a bigger vision for sure, and last but not least, I DONT HATE ON NO ONE.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Honestly, I started alone. But my family came along once they saw I was serious and the vision is to get us all rich. Big shoutout to my family, my mama (MS. RENEE) who is hands down the best cook I know, my sister Boswana, my sister Keta, my brother Damian, my niece Pumpkin, and my cousins Sean & Willie.

They made it much easier by playing their part and trusting the vision. And a special shout out to my kid’s mother Jessyica. Even when I was alone I didn’t cause she’ll advise me and assist me In any situation and always had my back as someone that wants to see you win should.
