Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Smith.
Hi sharon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sharon Smith — The Chaos Coordinator | Speaker | Coach | Entrepreneur | Community Leader
Sharon Smith is a powerhouse of purpose — a coach, speaker, and community advocate whose work spans wellness, business, caregiving, and ministry. Known as *The Chaos Coordinator*, Sharon helps individuals bring structure to their lives and brands through personalized life coaching, wellness coaching, business and branding consultations, group programs, and publications.
She is the founder and director of **Potters of Eden LLC**, a compassionate home care agency established in April 2021. Built on over a decade of caregiving, administrative, and leadership experience, Potters of Eden provides personal care services to seniors and vulnerable adults, emphasizing dignity, faith, and quality of life. Sharon’s journey into healthcare began in childhood under the loving mentorship of her grandmother, laying the foundation for a life devoted to caring for others.
In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharon pursued her dream of entrepreneurship while attending Spartanburg Community College’s Business Management Program. A certified CNA since 2016, she combined her clinical experience with her servant’s heart to launch a business focused on impact and integrity.
In March 2023, Sharon expanded her mission by founding **One Cross Ministries**, a nonprofit organization committed to serving the homeless, seniors, youth, and underserved populations through community outreach, education, and spiritual empowerment. She also earned an Associate’s Degree in Ministry, aligning her faith with her work.
Sharon is also a dedicated **CNA instructor at Caring Hands Training Center**, where she has been training and mentoring future Certified Nursing Assistants since 2023. She works alongside two experienced nurses and the school’s founder to provide students with real-world knowledge and compassionate care skills.
A proud mother of **five daughters**, including one recently adopted through the foster care system, Sharon leads by example — teaching her girls the value of hard work, perseverance, and faith. She is currently pursuing her **Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)** certification to further her impact in the healthcare field.
Beyond her businesses, Sharon is deeply rooted in community service. She has led and participated in countless events, often in partnership with other organizations, to uplift her community. From youth programs and church activities to annual outreach events like youth extravaganzas, Sharon has consistently answered the call to lead with love and action.
When she’s not building businesses or transforming lives, Sharon is teaching, mentoring, cooking, singing, and enjoying quality time with her daughters. Her mission is clear: serve with excellence, build with intention, and inspire others to live fully — even in the chaos.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not — the road has been filled with bumps, tears, and lessons. Starting a business during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic came with unique challenges. One of the biggest struggles was gaining and keeping clients while navigating constant uncertainty. People were getting sick, families were scared, and that meant high turnover rates with both clients and staff.
We had to constantly train new workers, even though work wasn’t always consistent. Once things began to stabilize, the challenges shifted to deeper business issues — like limited funding, lack of exposure, and not having enough resources to grow the way I envisioned.
As an entrepreneur, you quickly realize that the real growth and impact in business doesn’t fully kick in until years 3 to 5. You have to be mentally, emotionally, and financially prepared for that. There were days I cried and wanted to give up — days I questioned if I made the right decision. But I kept going. And I’m so glad I didn’t quit. The growth, the lives we’ve impacted, and the strength I’ve gained through the process have all been worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wear many hats, but they all have the same foundation: service, purpose, and people. I’m a life and wellness coach, speaker, CNA instructor, and entrepreneur with a passion for transforming lives — whether that’s through health care, faith, business, or personal development. What I’m most proud of is the impact. Whether it’s seeing one of my students pass their state exam, watching a client regain confidence, or supporting a family during their most vulnerable moments — that’s what keeps me going. I’m also incredibly proud of being a mother. They’re my biggest “why.” What sets me apart is my servant’s heart and personal touch. I don’t just teach, coach, or care — I walk alongside people. I’ve lived what I teach. I’ve cried through the struggles and celebrated the small wins. My journey has taught me that people don’t just need services — they need connection, compassion, and someone who sees them. That’s what I bring to every room I step into.
What are your plans for the future?
My vision is BIG — and it’s rooted in impact.
For Potters of Eden, I see it becoming a household name — the go-to, trusted home care agency in our community and beyond. I want to expand our services to include not just in-home care, but a facility where clients can receive 24-hour care, along with transportation services to support their daily needs. We’re building something lasting — with heart, quality, and community at the center.
For The Chaos Coordinator, my plan is simple but powerful: to help, coach, and lead as many people as I can. I want to continue offering services that inspire, give hope, and help people get organized in their life, business, and wellness journeys. I’m here to be a light in what can often feel like chaos.
And for One Cross Ministries, my dream is to continue expanding our outreach — to partner with other agencies and organizations to uplift communities across the region. I envision having a physical building where our seniors can gather for activities, and our youth can have a safe, recreational space to learn, grow, and thrive.
Every goal I have is rooted in service — and I’m just getting started.
