Daily Inspiration: Meet Rebecca Fabanwo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Fabanwo.

Hi Rebecca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Heart of Compassion was birthed from God’s divine purpose, working through the trials and tribulations of Rebecca and John. More than a decade ago, they faced difficult circumstances, struggling to meet even their most basic needs. Time and time again, they sought help from government agencies, churches, and community centers, only to be turned away or told to return later. Though assistance was available, it often felt just out of reach.

In 2019, weighed down by hardships and the burden of trying to do things her own way, Rebecca heard the Lord speaking to her heart—calling her to surrender fully to Him. God reminded her that He had placed the vision for Heart of Compassion (HOC) within her long ago, but she had to trust Him completely. Surrendering wasn’t easy, but when she finally asked for His permission and allowed Him to order her steps, HOC was born. It was a humbling lesson, but one that transformed everything. When Rebecca let God be God—the true Boss and CEO of HOC—the ministry flourished, and now, He receives all the glory!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest hurdles has been maintaining consistent membership growth while still providing quality support to everyone involved. In addition, we’ve outgrown our current setup and really need our own dedicated warehouse space at 1 location verses working from 2 different warehouses, at least 100,000 square feet – to operate more efficiently.

And like many expanding organizations, having enough committed volunteers to assist with warehouse operations has also been an ongoing struggle. We need more hands and feet to serve in helping us get the word out about Heart of Compassion being a option for their ministry, church, agency or non profit.

God continues to provide and has found favor with HOC.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Heart of Compassion (HOC), we specialize in providing brand-new, non-perishable essentials to churches, nonprofits, agencies, and families in need locally and nationwide. Rebecca is very hands-on in the daily operations — helping run the warehouse, sorting inventory, loading trucks, coordinating tours, answering calls, and serving the community directly.

We are most proud of helping thousands of families and supporting over 55 nonprofit partners. What sets us apart is our heart to serve with dignity, compassion, and faith while providing brand-new items that help organizations better support their communities.I

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson learned along the journey is the power in continuing to serve and give, provide and donate all new items with a Heart of Compassion. Everyone has a testimony and you just never know what people have going on or dealing with. Learning to always try to handle people with care, always showing the love of Christ as we serve our communities.
