Daily Inspiration: Meet Marina Bryson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Bryson.

Marina Bryson

Hi Marina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Marina Bryson; I am 24 years old and was born in Ukraine. In 2016, I was adopted into a family from the United States. There was a lot of pressure in high school to figure out what I wanted to study after graduating. I had a few ideas, but I need to find a way to fit them right. At the beginning of COVID-19, I was advised to visit Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School. Beauty has always been a passion of mine but never a vision for a career. Paul Mitchell was the beginning of my hard-working success. I worked for a year before my fiancé encouraged me to look into starting a business. Working under someone can be challenging, especially in such a creative field; that’s why my fiancé and I did thorough research before creating Beauty Hour LLC. In December of 2023, I came across salon Meraki & Co. After getting to know the owner and all the girls, my heart felt like it was meant to be, so I decided to move forward in a private room.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Truly, there’s not much in life that is a smooth road. If things were easy, there wouldn’t be any motivation to improve. The struggles I went through on the way were unprofessional salon management, constant drama, challenging new experiences, difficult family circumstances, and steep learning curves. I know I’ve made plenty of mistakes, but those mistakes have helped me understand myself and my work and taught me that being a nail artist and a business owner isn’t about making money but taking care of my people and giving back the love they show me. Beauty Hour LLC wouldn’t exist without my support group and clients who believe in me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve tried various products in the past, but the one that stood out the most is the Luminary Nail System. It’s a multi-flex gel that can easily level out any imperfection and helps grow the natural nail while maintaining its strength even if it is weak. I specialize in and am known for my hand-painted nail art. Painting is a form of relaxation; it is my comfort zone and a way to express myself. I am proud of my growth since the first time I started doing nails. I can look at a photo and break down all the design layers to easily transfer them onto the nails. Besides the quality work I deliver, what sets me apart is the comfortable and relaxing environment I set during the appointment. Most salons care about quantity rather than quality. Each client relationship is unique, and I want my guests to know my room is a safe space to share personal emotions.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel that boundaries and professionalism are essential. I ensure I don’t let my personal life affect my work life. Setting goals, policies, and rules for myself and my clients is essential. Doing nails may be seen as an easy and relaxing job, but it is easy to fall down the deep end without set priorities.
