Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Helms Charlie Jones.
Madeline Helms, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Charlie and I have always dreamed our having our own gym space. After years of both of us working in different settings with clients, we knew we could combine our exercise, nutrition, and rehab knowledge to make an all inclusive gym that could help people in more than one category.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Beginning our gym was quite a process. Finding the right location was extremely important to us as we knew this would be a big priority for a lot of our members. Once finding the perfect location, we put in a large amount of work to make it the space we both envisioned, which took quite a bit of time and effort. The work we put in upfront may not be seen by members walking through our doors now, but we know what it took to get it from start to finish. Now it has turned into exactly what we pictured!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
While we are a gym, our main focus has always been building a community within the walls. We want our members to become the healthiest version of themselves – not just physically, but socially and emotionally as well. We specialize in group classes, 1:1 personal training, and nutrition coaching. Charlie has an incredible background in exercise rehab – helping people heal their bodies through movement. I have a background in nutrition – helping clients create a plan that heals their relationship with food while also reaching their health, weight loss, and performance goals.
Our people-first focus sets us apart from others, as we know that the way we interact with our members is a key component to helping them reach their goals.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
We like to call ourselves a “third place”. The Third Place Theory explains that we all have 3 social environments we primarily go in our lives – home, work, and a third setting. The third setting is where we find community, meaning, and connection. Our community and the way we interact with our members is the most important aspect in what we do. Fitness and health can be a tough topic for some people. Exercise is a hard thing to do, but what we’ve learned is that people welcome the idea when they can do it somewhere that they find value and engagement as a whole person.
