Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Busey
Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born and raised In Charleston. Starting surfing at age 11. Turned pro at 17. Traveled the world for handful of years. Came home and settled down to start my business. I know own and operate 3 Top Rated watersports companies along with working on tv shows and movies as a stuntman and consultant. I recently started my own line of surf and paddleboards and are currently expanding that. Was recently voted Charlestons Best Athlete. Born in the trailer park to traveling the world. CAnt beat it:)
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh god no. The toughest route is always the best taken. There is no growth without suffering. Coming from an abusive household it made things harder but mean more also. Sports was an outlet for me. I saw early on how hard and unfair life could be. Losers come with any excuse of why something cant be done. Winners always find a way. From sleeping under bridges to eating out of trash cans to filing for food stamps, Ive done it all. The moment a boy becomes a man is the moment he realizes no one is coming to save him. He must rely only on himself. After my dad died, all utilities had been turned off, truck towed, etc…… I realized something had to be done. That was my rock bottom.
Fast forward 20 years, I now mentor others and do motivating speeches to inspire those who face similar challenges and teach them it can be done with hard work and attitude.
