Today we’d like to introduce you to KJ Wol
Hi KJ, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been around music my whole life. My dad played guitar in a band and my mom played tambourine in church. I joined the band class in 2008 where I played percussion. It taught me the importance of rhythm and how to read sheet music. I left the band after a year because I was unsatisfied and was bored. I started making beats in 2011 using FL Studio. I was inspired by classic hip-hop groups like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. Currently, I am working with upcoming rappers like Jxshamar, Chemi$t from Unheard Ent., and Smxkedoji. I started DJing in the Charleston Area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At first, I found beat-making difficult because I did not understand music theory. I kept making beats because I enjoyed the challenge and wanted to make something I wanted to listen to.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a music producer and engineer. I make beats for my projects and others. I released a beat tape titled “Blue Escape” on August 9, 2024. I also produced, mixed and mastered Jxshamar’s Debut Album, “What If I told You”
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You must keep going and pushing yourself to get better in life. You will not improve if you do not try to do better.
