Today we’d like to introduce you to Dusty And Mary McGrath.
Hi Dusty and Mary, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Pizza has always been a huge factor in Dustys life. He grew up in the south with family in the North East who notoriously take their pizza very seriously.
He got his first job at 16 working for a local pizzeria and stayed for over 10 years, followed by making pizza for himself and his family by hand for another decade. In 2022, co-owner of Dusty’s Dough & co and Dusty’s wife Mary, bought him his first real pizza oven. They started hosting pizza parties for friends where Dusty refined his recipes and gained the confidence in his craft to start up a business.
Now, they are popping up around the Charleston area, catering private events, and dishing out fresh pies. Anyone looking for a taste of the north east on a homemade crust with the freshest ingredients will love Dusty’s Dough.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Dusty and Mary both work full time jobs in addition to opening and running Dusty’s Dough. As a husband and wife team, they focus on maintaining a healthy work life balance while also taking opportunities as they come. As new business owners, they’ve learned a lot about the entrepreneurial world, and navigated the challenges that come with it as a strong duo.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of their delicious business venture, both Dusty and Mary have full time careers. Dusty works in the medical world as a senior service representative for a private laboratory. He uses his time on the road to think about how to perfect his pies. Mary is a former elementary school teacher and current project manager in IT for a local company producing software for nonprofits. Her background helps her manage the administrative side of the pizza world.

In addition to his full time job and owning and operating Dustys Dough, Dusty is also an accomplished golfer. He qualified for this years South Carolina state match play and has won multiple local amateur golf tournaments throughout the Charleston area.
