Daily Inspiration: Meet Deb Presutto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deb Presutto

Deb, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since I was a little girl, creativity and the arts have always played a huge role. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that I left a 10 year corporate career to pursue my passion full time. I was 32 and wanted to start a family so why not start your own business then too right?? I started by selling my artwork through social media and it immediately took off! I was seeing the business continue to grow and grow. I then added framing services, free in-room mockups so customers could see how the art would look in their space, and other things to make the buying experience easier. This year after 6 years in business I launched my first set of Christmas ornaments which became a huge success. I also launched gift boxes! These were a natural extension of my work and they always include a piece of my art and other home decor items. Now, here I am years later still living out my dream job and slowly growing and expanding what I offer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you start your own business, there will always be challenges! One thing that is difficult is that sales don’t just come to you. You have to continue to innovate, be your biggest advocate and get your name out there. Sometimes you may think something will be a success and it’s not and then other things surprise you with how much people like them! You have to pivot all the time and don’t let any one thing get you down for long.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist who creates so many different types of art (originals and prints) but I would say I am most known for my neutral landscapes. I am most proud of the fact that customers send me messages about how my art has changed their life. I never imagined that just doing something I love could have the impact it does on peoples lives. Some of my work reminds people of loved ones, places they have visited or even just provide a calming feel throughout their homes. What I believe sets me apart are a few things. I don’t just create work and sell it. I work with customers almost like an interior designer going back and forth providing mockups of different pieces of art in their homes. I also provide framing services so they can receive the pieces finished and ready to hang. My most recent achievement that sets me apart is the launch of gift boxes. I have not seen many, if any, other artist do this yet. I love anything home decor/design related so I thought what better way than to include my art with other items to gift. It makes art more accessible and makes for truly special gifts for people to enjoy. The boxes come from the artist and not just from a 3rd party vendor that curates.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me the most happy is receiving photos and messages from customers about how much they love their art!
