Daily Inspiration: Meet Angie Mizzell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Mizzell

Hi Angie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my career as a TV journalist, chasing the kind of success I thought I was supposed to want. But even as I achieved milestones—like reporting national news stories and working in a fast-paced newsroom—something inside me felt off. I ignored that feeling for years, pushing forward because I believed quitting meant failure.

Then, after a breaking news story kept me at work until 4 AM, I had a moment of reckoning. I was exhausted, burned out, and questioning everything. That night, I realized I was chasing an idea of success that no longer felt like mine.

Stepping away from my career in TV news wasn’t easy, but it opened the door to something deeper: rediscovering who I was outside of my title and led me towards work I love. I started writing, sharing my story, and helping other high-achieving women navigate their own turning points with courage and clarity.

Today, I’m an author, podcaster, and speaker, dedicated to helping others create a life that feels like home. My memoir, “Girl in the Spotlight”, tells the story of how I let go of an old dream to pursue a path that felt more authentic and fulfilling.

Through my podcast, “More Like You with Angie Mizzell,” and my weekly “Hello Friday” newsletter, I continue the conversation about what it means to feel at home inside your own life.

Ultimately, my journey has been about learning to trust myself—to listen to my instincts when something feels off and have the courage to make a change. And now, I help others do the same.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think any meaningful path is completely smooth—it’s full of unexpected turns, course corrections, and moments of doubt. For me, one of the biggest challenges was untangling my sense of identity from achievement. Leaving TV news wasn’t just about changing careers; it was about learning to trust myself, even when the next step wasn’t clear.
There were seasons of uncertainty, times when I questioned whether I had made the right choices. But what I’ve learned is that the struggles are often the most valuable part of the journey. They teach us to listen more closely to ourselves, to embrace change with curiosity rather than fear, and to recognize that fulfillment isn’t about following a straight path—it’s about finding a path that truly fits.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the heart of everything I do—whether through writing, podcasting, or speaking—is a deep commitment to helping people create a life that feels like home. I specialize in storytelling, both my own and helping others see the power in theirs. Through my memoir, “Girl in the Spotlight,” my podcast “More Like You with Angie Mizzell,” and my “Hello Friday” newsletter, I explore what it means to navigate change with courage, redefine success on your own terms, and trust yourself in the process.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend personal storytelling with universal takeaways. My background as a journalist taught me how to ask deeper questions, but my lived experience taught me how to find meaning in the answers. I don’t just share my journey—I help others see their own experiences in a new light, so they feel empowered to make choices that align with who they truly are.

I’m most proud of the impact my words have had on others. Whether it’s a reader who saw themselves in my book, a listener who felt understood by a podcast episode, or someone who found the courage to take a new step after hearing me speak, those moments remind me why I do this work.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one thing I hope readers take away, it’s that you don’t have to have it all figured out to take the next step. The path to a more fulfilling life isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about learning to trust yourself along the way.

If my story resonates with you, I’d love to stay connected through my Hello Friday newsletter. Each week, I share personal reflections, insights, and stories about what it means to create a life that truly fits. You can sign up at angiemizzell.com/subscribe.
