Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Gomez.
Andrew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m excited to share my journey with you. My path to becoming a business owner in Simpsonville wasn’t exactly a straight line, but every step was fueled by a desire to create something meaningful for our community.
The Early Spark & The Pivot
My entrepreneurial journey started earlier than most—I launched my first business in real estate investments when I was just 18. While that taught me the fundamentals of the “hustle,” my heart was eventually pulled toward the world of entertainment.
I spent time as a sales supervisor, but I knew I needed to make a move. I eventually took a work-from-home position specifically so I could dedicate my after-hours energy to finding a way into the entertainment industry. I was looking for a way to combine my business background with my passion for people.
Finding the Heart of the Business
The real turning point was my time as a manager at a trampoline park. That’s where I truly fell in love with the entertainment world. I realized then—and I still believe it today—that customer service is the heart of everything I do. It’s not just about the activity; it’s about how people feel when they walk through your doors.
Why Simpsonville?
I absolutely fell in love with Downtown Simpsonville. I knew this was where I wanted to plant my roots. In 2022, I founded Axeology as my “entry-level” venture into the industry.
The process was a marathon, not a sprint. I waited until I found the perfect location downtown before starting construction. Once we had the keys, I brought on my college best friend as the store manager—because building a business is always better with people you trust.
A Journey of Growth
Looking back, the evolution of my career has mirrored the evolution of my family. My wife has been by my side through every single iteration of my professional life. During the process of building my professional career, we went from dating, to getting married, to recently welcoming our first-born daughter, Amelia, into the world.
What’s Next
Creating relationships within this community has been the most rewarding part of the job. My goal is simple: to keep growing in this industry and to continue providing a space where Simpsonville families and friends can make memories.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I was in a bad car wreck when I was 18 that made life more difficult than originally intended. I had failed out of college and went back home to work at a trampoline park.
It was then when I opened my real estate company and found my passion for the customer service industry. I went back to school online, while working my full time job, and growing my real estate company to get out of the place that I had put myself in.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At the core of everything, I’m in the people business—I just happen to use entertainment as the medium.
I’m the founder of Axeology in Downtown Simpsonville, but if you ask what I ‘do,’ I specialize in creating environments where people feel seen and valued. My background spans from real estate investment at eighteen to managing large-scale entertainment parks, and through all of that, I’ve become known for one thing: an obsessive focus on the guest experience. What sets me apart is that I don’t view entertainment as a transaction; I view it as hospitality.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I live life by two quotes.
– “Continue to be 1% better at something each day” & “Fail upwards”
The best advice I can give to anyone starting out is that nothing is perfect the first time around. Make the conscious decision each day to improve one small thing 1% each and every day. Whether that is making your bed for the first time that morning or improving your work just a little. A small difference each and every day may not seem like a lot, but over time you build the fundamentals to become successful in your own way.
Fail upwards was a piece of advice that was given to me in my early sales days. Each time you fail, make sure that you fall up rather than down. Use each experience as a learning lesson to continue to improve upon yourself. You do not grow without failure.
