Today we’d like to introduce you to Stan Utheim David Box.
Hi Stan Utheim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Charleston Wholesale Florist came to fruition as a result of the combined efforts of Stan Utheim, Owner & David Box, Director of Operation & Managing Founding Member, recognizing a local industry need was not being met for the professional floral community.
We took our exciting vision for the Greater Charleston area & met that need in an impactful way, taking the leap of faith and opened our doors July 2013. With determination, hard work, and a commitment to the pursuit of excellence, forged Charleston Wholesale into a strong, successful company in the commercial wholesale floral industry.
We love knowing one of our biggest measurements of success is seeing, and hearing, the stories of so many lives positively impacted by our vision. How people transitioned from weekend floral warriors to a opening their own business vibrant thriving business of their own bringing global economy to Charleston, South Carolina. Seeing our clients lives ‘blossom’ (pun intended) brings us so much joy how “our dream” is alive and well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To quote the former Chancellor of Germany, Hermut Schmidt who said ‘The biggest room in the world, is room for improvement’ was exactly right. There are ALWAYS bumps in the road and things to improve on.
Logistical uncertainty from global farms with a perishable products, has turned a few hairs more grey. But, anything worth doing well, will have struggles & challenges. Setting realistic benchmarks are vital. Acknowledging when you need help and having the wisdom to ask for it, is just as important. Many businesses might not be successful because of pride or ego not asking for help.
Creating a culture suitable for growth is key as well. Do your concerted best to meet client needs. Treat them with a level of professionalism & consideration you would a family member. Because, they are part of your work family.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Stan Utheim, who also owns, The Blossom Shop in Summerville, South Carolina as well, has a background in banking and marketing.
