Today we’d like to introduce you to Ric Williams.
Hi Ric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my musical journey in the 70s while I was in school. Started as a singer on school concerts from age of 12 at The Little London Secondary School. I studied Organ for a short while in the area I grew up but I started playing guitar at age 16 and just knew that was the instrument that resonate with me. During my early days I played with many bands in Jamaica. I started traveling at age 28, did tour with a famous Jamaican singing trio by the name ‘The Itals’ , The tour took us across The USA, Europe and Parts of South America. I migrated to the US in 1992 and formed my present band ‘Mystic Vibrations’ and has been going from 192 to present.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As destiny would have it, nothing is ever smooth. Band members would have change of mind and there would be a struggle to find replacement. Having the proper instruments to have the correct sound was challenging at times because of financial reasons. So what could have been done in a short time ended up taking a longer time to achieve. Eventually things fall into place and the team started building. It is still a struggle to keep a band together but once you love what you do you find joy in doing it regardless of the outcome.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Musician that Sing and play Guitar. I specialize in Reggae Music. I am known for my work with Mystic Vibrations Band. I am most proud that I have been playing Reggae Music long before it ever got as popular as it is presently. The thing that sets me apart from others, is that what I do is authentic.
