Conversations with Nichole Lauren

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Lauren.

Hi Nichole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
As a girl who always loved documenting life, you would hardly find me without a camera. In middle school, my mom gifted me my first DSLR for Christmas- a Canon Rebel. And after years of entrepreneurial spirit and constantly taking photos of my friends throughout high school, I decided to give this photography business a go while in college. My humble beginnings started with simple Word document flyers I’d post on any billboard I could find at Clemson. At $50/session, I became popular with senior girl groups. After some success, I realized weddings were an area I would thrive in. I started shooting with any photographer who would let me tag along. And ever since then, I’ve been doing what I love daily.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My story is uncommon in that I started my business 8 years ago but only recently went for it full-time. I had several other jobs while exploring photography “on the side.” One of which was going through law school and becoming a full-time attorney! Many are confused and surprised when they learn I am a “real” attorney still. But I love the diversity my background brings to the table. I have multiple passions. But I am so glad that my creative business is my full-time job now!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a natural light, light, and airy wedding photographer. My style is genuine, playful, and timeless. I also host styled shoot workshops for other photographers in the area to build their portfolios with fun, fresh content! I serve brides and grooms in South Carolina and beyond.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Greenville is the city I was born and raised in. I love it so much and could never imagine living anywhere else! I enjoy that we have everything- fantastic food, the best shopping, and beautiful natural locations. But it also doesn’t feel like a vast city. You feel like you know everyone, and I rarely go out without running into someone I know. It’s a perfect spot to settle down in, and I can see why it’s becoming so attractive to others!
