Hi Mia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a licensed hairstylist in 2013 and started working behind the chair in 2014. After spending a few years learning the industry and developing my skills, I opened The Hair Art Gallery in 2017. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t just building a business, I was building something that reflected who I was becoming. Every chapter has shaped the way I lead, the way I serve my clients, and the standards I hold for myself. I’m still learning, still growing, and I think that’s one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a business has required me to make difficult decisions, adapt to unexpected challenges, and continually evolve. Some of my greatest lessons have come from the setbacks, not the successes. Looking back, I wouldn’t change any of it because each experience has shaped both my business and my perspective.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in precision short hair artistry, but what I do extends far beyond creating beautiful hairstyles. I’m known for creating a peaceful, intentional experience where women feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves. I’m an encourager by nature, and I believe every woman who sits in my chair should leave feeling more confident, seen, and valued than when she arrived.
What I’m most proud of is building a business that reflects my values. While technical skill is essential, I believe the experience matters just as much. My goal has always been to use my craft as a way to serve, encourage, and pour into the women I meet. Hair is what brings them to me, but I hope they leave with something far greater than a new style.
