Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Millonzi.
Lindsay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Years ago, I was on a mission to create soap for myself and my family that was free of harsh chemicals and toxins without sacrificing beautiful colors, scents and designs. After experimenting with different recipes, I came up with our family favorites and soon after, we only used my soap in our household. My husband encouraged me to share my soap with the world and Wild Indigo Soap Co. was born. My soap can be found online at www.wildindigosoap.co, as well as in several shops and B&B’s in South Carolina. I’m thrilled to be sharing my products with you and I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My business is definitely a labor of love. So much more goes into running a soap business than just making soap. There is a lot of prep work involved, testing out new recipes, making the soap, cleaning, curing the soap, packaging, keeping up with inventory and financials, and of course marketing. It sometimes makes for exhausting days and sleepless nights. That being said, I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Overall, I’ve been blessed in that it has been a fairly smooth road. Honestly, the hardest part for me was initially putting my product on the website and allowing myself to be vulnerable and open to criticism. It’s challenging to work so hard on something and really pour your heart and soul into it and then push it out into the world. But this process has also shown me that when a great deal of care and effort goes into a product, it’s obvious to the customer and is well-received.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creating a small batch, rich-lathering handmade soap, made using luxurious butters and oils. While there are many other handmade soap businesses, I like to think that my customer service sets my business apart. I’m passionate about making soap, but I believe that from start to end, it should be an experience for the customer. I appreciate my customers and enjoy building that relationship and adding a special, personalized touch to all orders. I take pride in knowing I’m selling my best work and that I’m doing it in the best way possible.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success means being able to do something that I love while bringing happiness to my customers. For every email, conversation, social media comment, etc. letting me know I have a new life-long customer or that someone took an extra shower in one day just use my soap – that’s a win for me! That is why I do what I do. I want my customers to be just as excited to use my products as I am!
