Conversations with Kristen Osborne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Osborne

Hi Kristen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been tattooing for the past twelve years, and nearly eight of those have been happily spent in South Carolina. Paramedical Tattooing is the facet of my career that brought me and my family here.
Growing up, I knew I wanted to do something in a creative field, and tattooing is the perfect something for me. I am a lifelong artist and have a background in fine art and graphic design, as well.
I really love working in Greenville, and I enjoy seeing how my work has grown. I’m endlessly thankful to my clients for keeping me busy. I’m so glad you love my art!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but it has always been worth persevering for.
My apprenticeship was far from great. However, it did connect me with artists I admire and show me the type of tattooer I wanted to be, in contrast.
I’m also glad to have streamlined my booking process, as my client volume has grown. That can absolutely be a challenge as schedules build.
My books currently open twice annually, first in the spring/summer, and then in the fall/winter. My schedule is open year-round for cosmetic and paramedical work.
I’m happy to have Jenn as such a terrific booking assistant, too. Clear communications are essential, and she makes it happen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Tattoo Artist who specializes in fine-line illustrative designs, Permanent Cosmetics, and Paramedical Tattooing.
I especially love pieces inspired by fine art, plants, animals, and insects.
I really enjoy connecting with others, regardless of which facet of work they’re receiving.
Some of my most rewarding work includes breast restorations for cancer survivors and other corrective procedures. I’m always hoping to facilitate self-love and acceptance by helping people reclaim their appearance.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
There are so many helpful resources out there, but most of the media I consume is recreational! I’m an avid enjoyer of fiction.
I also have a great collection of art resources like anatomy books, photography books, sketchbooks, and collections of vintage illustrations. I find a lot of inspiration in nature, as well.
