Conversations with Jordan Fusco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Fusco

Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was little, I hoarded my drawings in notepads filled with dolphins, cats, horses- every animal an 8 year old would find cute enough to draw. I told myself I was going to become a veterinarian. I stuck with that plan until college and must have changed my major about 5 times. You work hard all your life to become what you envisioned, just to find out corporate America isn’t what you thought it would be. I’ve been in healthcare for almost 6 years now and became officially drained after several companies I worked for. Between the constant stress of worrying about financials to being on call 7 days a month, I turned to drawing as sort of a meditation. My now husband had absolutely no idea I could draw, because it wasn’t something I’ve done since I was in middle school. I started looking into digital art and was gifted an Apple Pen and iPad to create what I wanted. I began making wall art for my apartment. Everything really took off when I got engaged. No one tells you just how expensive weddings are until you’re planning it! So my life started to revolve around the details of my wedding and next thing you know, I’m creating every stationery and design I could to stay under my budget. I loved every minute I put into making Save The Dates, menus, invitation suites, envelopes, etc. I found my passion and it wasn’t what I thought it would look like. My family and friends have pushed me to open up my own business in wedding stationery and design. Since then, I’ve made bachelorette invites, wedding signs, matchbooks, and so much more for my friends, even people from across world! It brings me so much joy that I finally found something I’m good at and look forward to doing each day. I believe a door was opened for me during a time I would have never thought was possible. I’m currently working on several projects and cannot wait to share them!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If you are looking at the path of how I got here, then no it has not been smooth sailing. My twenties have been a roller coaster of trying to find the right job. I would have never guessed people would be asking me to create wedding stationery and art for them. The only struggle is the start up, but that’s for any business. You definitely have to plan out what supplies are needed and the costs. It’s not the cheapest, but in the long run, all of it is worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in wedding stationery and digital artwork. A crowd favorite would be the feather envelopes I made for my own wedding. I am currently making some for a Gala seating chart because of how stunning they were. I am opening the door to also incorporate unique ways on how to make their wedding stand out even more to guests. Recently, I created another seating chart using vases. Each vase listed a table number and the names followed below. It turned out beautiful and was a big hit among the guests! I like to pay attention to detail a little more and I think that has turned me into a perfectionist. I create everything I do with so much love and thought put into it. I value someone taking their time to create something special for me and I believe everyone should have that. Especially a bride and groom on the most special day.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Fall is my favorite time of the year. My parents used to take my brother and I up to the North Georgia mountains to an apple orchard each year. A little wood cabin sat on the orchard and had everything that reminds you of fall in there- From caramel apples to pumpkin pie muffin mix. The crisp air and smell of hot cider made me truly appreciate that little trip with family each year. September through October is always nostalgic for me.
