Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Davis
Hi Jeff, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a beach person who was raised about 100 yards from the Gulf of Mexico on Okaloosa Island, Florida. I have always been a surfer and now also spend my time in the ocean kiteboarding and wingfoiling. Although the beaches where I was raised are honestly the most beautiful in the continental US, my hometown of Destin, Florida has become hopelessly overdeveloped, so my wife Kim and I escaped to Seabrook island, SC where we have lived full-time since 2021 and couldn’t be happier.
I retired several years ago and spend most of my time involved in some way with the beach, wildlife or photography. I am a professional photographer active in Fine Art, Portrait and Real Estate Photography. I really think of photography as a form of “Bionic Eyes” that allows us to appreciate our beautiful world in ways that are impossible for the human eye to do on its own. If I can apply my abilities to help others more fully appreciate nature, freeze time with their families, or sell or rent their home, that is a positive outcome for me. I also feel that our talented local photographers can have a positive impact on our local communities through volunteering time through our lenses. I lead the Photographic efforts for the Alan Fleming Tennis Tournament in 2023 and 2024 and am active in capturing the kids’ efforts with the Third Serve Foundation.
I am a volunteer with the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network and the Seabrook Shorebird Stewards. My wife Kim and I wrote and self-published the only illustrated educational children’s book about local dolphin strand feeding, “Lunchtime With Luna and the Locals”, and we donate one-third of the net proceeds from book sales to LMMN.
I realize that life is short and live with a “Carpe Diem” attitude, trying to leave each situation a little bit better than when I arrived.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life is always an interesting journey but I honestly feel that my road has probably been much easier than so many others on this planet. There’s often something in your way that you need to climb over, but I really operate from a mindset that it’s not very productive to worry or obsess about anything which is already a historical fact and cannot be changed. Pay it Forward and focus on Today, which is really the only dial you can turn.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I spent my working life as a business leader, have been the CEO of multiple global industrial companies, but now focus on Photography via Jeffrey J Davis Photography, www.jeffreyjdavis.com. I offer “Fine Art Photography from Seabrook Island and Beyond” as well as helping families “Freeze Time” via my local Portrait Sessions. I am a licensed Part 107 drone pilot and offer my photographic abilities to help clients sell or rent their local properties. In all of these endeavors I bring not only strong technical ability but local knowledge and a fun attitude.
