Conversations with Jamar Langley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamar Langley

Hi Jamar, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first started with seeing and hearing my mom and dad sing. My mom often sung with my dad while cooking, and even in church events. Being the baby of eight, music was a necessity in our home so we all fell in love with it. Through those musical values, My brothers and I formed a group called addiction. We sung at various events. Some that I wasn’t old enough to get into lol. I quickly became more of a lead singer as I learned more about my gift. Although I was a little nervous, I did understand what I destined to do. Eventually I wrote my first real song. Through that process, I learned how to play the bass guitar, electric guitar, and the acoustic guitar.
That has carried me. My most recent success was on season 23 of The Voice, in which I was a top 15 Artist. That has bright new so much success. Other things I’ve done so far in my career is produced/co-wrote songs for a few notable individuals such as Chris Brown, Being Mary Jane, Zonnique pullins, married to medicine, And many other renowned artist, producers, and shows.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I appreciate all of the bumps. I’ve seen bad contracts, failed expectations, people come and go, a lot give up on me or underestimate me, and even moments of frustration from things not quite going the way I planned. Through those things, I’ve become the strongest version of myself, and the most discipline musically. Not the results are clear. Thank God for the failures!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist/singer/songwriter/musician. I specialize in creating not only a song, but a journey through a musical moment. I’m known for great storytelling, and creating songs that have substance. I’m most proud of the fact that I kept going when the pressure kept rising. Eventually, I was too much for the pressure to withstand. The thing that sets me apart, is my unwavering faith in God and what he has allowed me to do. No one can never tell me that I can’t do something!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
None. God did it! I truly believe that everything has happened with a certain design in mind for me.
