Conversations with George Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Miller

Hi George, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion and love for tattooing started in my freshman year of high school when I did my first tattoo on myself. From the ages of 18 – 21 I worked landscaping and construction jobs all while still chasing that dream job of being a full time artist. While living in Ohio I got the break I so longed for and began my apprenticeship at a shop called Northcoast Body Mods under the owner Richard Kish and never looked back. After finishing I took my credentials back to my hometown of Tucson, Az and got to work. After 5 years of working inside shops and traveling I knew I wanted to take my career to the next level and wasn’t sure where or what that looked like. Then it smacked it me in the face, a mobile tattoo bus! Let’s take our love and passion for serving clients to a private, more intimate and convenient setting.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I heard somewhere a while back, “if it was easy, it wasn’t worth it”. I have had my fair share of struggles and bumps in the road with tattooing in general. As far as the transition from shop to mobile studio goes it’s been smooth besides some typical machines issues with my generator here and there. I believe this all has been a calling from the big man upstairs and he’s been making the way for me with it all.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love to do anything realistic with creative freedom. My passion and love for custom lettering is something I’m always entangling into designs when and wherever I can. Growing up listening to heavy hardcore/deathcore style music and seeing their amazing album art and crazy splatter like fonts is a huge inspiration of mine. My most proud pieces of say is the Jesus portrait I did on my brother and the two “Office” portraits I did at the Toledo Tattoo Fest a couple years back.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
That’s honestly really hard to say. I feel like if you asked someone that 10 years ago they wouldn’t expect it to be here it’s at now. Technology has really grown and integrated itself in tattooing and has revolutionized the industry profoundly in just the last 5 years. A lot of it has been super beneficial but I respect and admire the old school ways of things.

Pricing:

  • my hourly rate comes down to $150/ hr though I like to price things out individually to stay away from surprising clients if things take me a little longer than expected.
  • The mobile studio has a call out fee that’s added. Anything within 50 miles is $50
  • I also have flat rates for larger appointments. Full days (8 hours) being $1,300 and half days (4 hours) being $700
