Today we’d like to introduce you to Domanique Keegan.
Hi Domanique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Domanique, owner of Shadows & Shears. I recently celebrated 10 years of making my clients feel beautiful through hair and makeup. I specialize in bridal hair and makeup, tv and film as well as special events for all skin tones. 10 years ago I knew nothing but I was full of ambition. That ambition has carried me into rooms I could have never imagined. I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing talented women. It’s been a soul fulfilling journey and in the very same breath it still feels like this is only the beginning.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur is never an easy road. Often times your faith will be the main thing that keeps you hungry for more. There’s always sleepless nights, stressful days, weeks that go by and you didn’t make as much as the previous week but I remind myself it’s about alignment. In those moments where I am not as booked as the week before I relax, I rest, I strategize and prepare. It’s all about perspective!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for my soft glam makeup looks. I love that people can look at my work and know that’s a Shadows and Shears glam. I have invested so much into my craft year after year to give my clients the best! I always reiterate I work with all skin tones! Some special events especially weddings come with a diverse bridal party and I’ll always be proud of the fact that anyone can sit in my chair and leave confident!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by being able to take a day of rest and not beating myself up for it. Being able to see my friends, spend time with loved ones. Being chosen in a world full of options!
