Today we’d like to introduce you to Cap Grizzlee.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in New York City. The Bronx to be exact. My family is from James Island so when my grandmother moved back to SC, and I was acting up in school and fighting, I was sent to Charleston to live with her and have been here since. I’ve been heavily influenced to do anything having to do with music as my mother is a recording artist, stage performer, and actress. I am also a recording artist as well as an actor, audio engineer, and business owner. When it comes to making music I have a slight advantage being from the north and the south. I have a way with words which comes from the north but with clever delivery and flow which comes from the south. Getting into trouble growing up I what shaped me to be the man I am today which helps me be able to talk about things the way I do. I have a production team named DrumGodz and connected to a recording label “BandUP DaLabel”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Looking back on it, it hasn’t been easy or smooth at all. I’ve been grinding for a long time and just now seeing the benefits of working hard all of these years. Lacking knowledge and information was the hardest part of this journey but I’ve learned that I can’t wait on anyone else to make it happen for me. I’ve learned that not everyone has your best interest at heart. I’ve learned that I can rely on myself to make things happen and to support myself and my team instead of waiting on others to do it. Not every road has a solid foundation. It’s how you navigate that will determine the success you have on that road to wherever you’re going in life. I don’t have it all figured out and I have a lot more to learn and lot of work to do, but I’m excited for what’s to come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is definitely a reflection of me. If I’m cast in a film, 9/10 I’m playing myself (shoutout to Geechee One Films and Felicia Rivers). When it comes to music, I’m one of them ones. I’m different. How many actors/artists/producers/engineers/authors do you know? Im great at what I do and can be greater than I imagined. That’s on the talent side. I also have a great mind for business. Understanding that not only talent will get you in the door has motivated me to learn more on the business side of things. But I’m not doing it alone. I have partners that are great at what they do and we work with and for each other which makes my job easier. My personality shines through my work. The big picture is being painted now and I’m excited for everyone to see what I see personality shines through my work.
