Conversations with Candice Watkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Watkins

Hi Candice, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey, like many others, has been a little bit of a rough one. I have survived a rare cancer, which was one of the hardest things that I’ve had to overcome in my life thus far. I am a believer in the power of manifestation, faith and positive thinking. My diagnosis was extremely hard for me and my family to accept as I was a 23 year old young woman with a husband and two children. During this time, I had a lot of help from many different people inclusive of doctors, social workers, nurses and family. After surviving this unfortunate event in my life, I decided that I wanted to be in a position to help others. I began helping others with organization, hoarding issues, decor and eventually cleaning services. This is where my company, Immaculate Clean by Design was birthed. Helping others and seeing the smile on their faces gives me the best feeling. It’s a satisfaction that surpasses any other.

My advocacy for life and supplemental health insurance developed after one of my clients ran into road block after road block trying to secure life insurance. I went to work! Researching different carriers, etc. I set out to study and applied for my insurance license. I got appointed and helped her by finding a life insurance policy that fit her budget. I absolutely LOVE what I do. The gift of helping others in some shape, form or fashion is inside us all.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a licensed life insurance agent and advocate, isn’t always easy educating people on the “why” it is important to attain life insurance at a young age. Most young adults that I speak with seem to think that life insurance is something that can wait. The reality is that no one knows when the day will come that your family will have to make end of life decisions for you. Additionally, the younger you are the less expensive life insurance is. The longer you wait the more you’re going to pay.

As a professional organizer, it is challenging coaching people to realize that holding on to things that have no purpose or don’t serve you in any aspect of life not only takes a toll on your mental state, it also can hinder you from moving forward in your life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional organizer and a health and life insurance advocate/agent. I specialize in helping people remove unwanted items from their space(s) and organize their space(s) to improve functionality and usability. As a health and life insurance agent, I specialize in helping people realize the need for having insurance. I am most known for caring about the needs of others and helping in any possible way that I am able. I am most proud of the fact that I am blessed to bring a smile to my clients faces. The fact that I am wholeheartedly in the business of helping others…not just to make a dollar. I never have been in the headspace to make as much money as I can as fast as I can. When you are in that frame of mind, that is when you begin to take advantage of individuals as opposed to doing what is best for your client.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always the child that wanted to be in the room with the adults where the more advanced conversations were happening. I was often more mature than my friends and cousins. I was also a bit of a bookworm. I liked reading and looked up words that I didn’t know the meaning of quite often. I was quiet around people that I didn’t know but as I got older I became a social butterfly. I was interested in singing. I sang on choirs and in the school chorus my entire school career, even through college. Being an optimistic, caring, positive, analytical, and organized person was and is my personality.
