Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Johnson.
Candice, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
so photography has always been apart of my life. my sister even said once when i was little i seen the lightning and asked was God taking pictures. in early 200os my mom bought me a izod camera and i fell in love and as the years grew on …..so in early 2019 i bought a digital camera . a nikon coolpix b200. I got married and became a stay at home and decided to take it more seriously. my husband bought me my first professional camera. it started out as candie coated beauty but it didnt feel right so i looked up a word that meant joy. i ran across the word blissful and it clicked that this was it. these are blissful shots and moments for my customers and thats what ill call it. i started working with the owner of sight 4 ever photography Troy williams and started learning a lot by trial and error but after a while i started getting it. Here i am today shooting mainly milestone and senior photography as my focus niches but i do shoot weddings, events, and pretty much anything.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
smooth? not at all but what journey is ? My motto comes from the great Les Brown , Persist until you prevail. Ive lost clients , had people send fake inquires to try to bash my business, i’ve had people not pay me , and even once had someone tell me id be working with them on a specific day ( even told me in front of my client) and i wasnt scheduled with them missing out on a wedding shoot. ive had moments where i am so busy i cant breath and others were its so slow that i’m not sure how ill keep it going. through it all not matter the feelings i’ve experienced, i never lost faith. i believe in persistence and resilience ; i believe in breaks , breaks are great for a reset and a rest so you dont burn out. money is great but if you overwork yourself you’ll never enjoy it and all youve accomplished
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
i specialize in milestone , lifestyle, and senior photography. i shoot birthdays from your half birthday to whatever birthday you want to celebrate. i think people love to see how creative i can get, i had one sweet 16 where i cloned the clinted with 3 different expressions and there was a 1st rodeo where i did a tin cowboy bath, had heybell, and even made the clients name out of rope. With senior photography i do a raffle from january to march where you can enter your senior in as many times as you would like for $5 per entry then i pick 3 winners. 1 male 1 female and 1 for 50% off. i choose the winner via live facebook stream on my blissful shots page on March 15 @ 6 pm. i also offer packages for a full senior session… where you get both prom and a graduation session. there are different tiers to choose from and they don’t have to be shot the same day. i think what sets me apart is the creativity but also i shoot true to color i don’t really heavy edit or use presets. I’m also not that steep of an investment and offer payment plans to those who need it. the experience is always great i’m very personable and funny and love making people feel comfortable so we make magic.
What were you like growing up?
i was very much a talkative child, and i loved learning. ive always have been very nurturing and funny and that they key to whom i am. someone full of love and loves a good time. ive always had many interest art, photography, music ,reading…all things i still love today. i even won best sense of humor for my graduating class.
