Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Hofmann.
Brianna , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been an artist. It doesn’t matter what medium I’m working with, I’ve always had a love for creative expression. I am also a teacher at heart, and I spent seven years in public education teaching elementary art in high poverty areas of South Carolina. My time spent in the classroom taught me a lot about direction, planning, and successful execution of projects with large groups of people. The result was countless art shows at local art centers for my students’ work. While the work was meaningful, I knew in my heart that it was time for a lifestyle change away from the classroom and into my own creative space again.
I married the love of my life in September of 2025. That day inspired me to found Moon Bloom Photography LLC, a wedding and portrait photography company built on making couples feel beautiful on one of the most important days of their lives through a fine art lens and impeccable attention to detail. I’ve worked on film sets in Georgia, and I spent a year at USC Columbia working in the media services department as a student worker surrounded by cameras and fellow creatives. Cameras capture living art. That’s a big draw for me, and I’m so thrilled to have a business that lets me exercise this creative muscle.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Choosing to leave a salaried job to pursue a business full time is always stressful! This year in particular has been a rough one on a personal level, but building my company has been one of the major highlights. I have creative freedom. I have control over my own schedule. I’m able to show up for myself every day, and it’s amazing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Anyone who knows me instantly thinks “artist”. I place Fine Art at the forefront in my approach to my work. This doesn’t mean my work is posed or stiff. It just means I have an artist’s eye when I look at the world. I have a very specific attention to the little details, the things other people might miss but a couple definitely didn’t when they were planning their wedding. The art of noticing is the bread and butter of photography, and I have always noticed things. It’s not just about the little details, of course. I approach my wedding photography holistically. So while I do step in to provide pose guidance and direction, I also understand that stepping back and simply letting the moment unfold with the eye to notice when to snap a picture is crucial to preserving the feeling of a day.
I want my couples to open their galleries and feel transported back to the happiest day of their lives. Since I’ve worked in the film industry in feature, documentaries, and short films, I like to think I bring a unique edge to telling wedding day stories.
It’s story telling. It’s fine art. It’s fashion-focused and editorial. It’s Moon Bloom!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I still keep in touch with my mentor Jimmy Henderson at USC Columbia, and I met him over ten years ago. I think the best advice I can give is to find someone you genuinely connect with. Someone who wants to see you succeed and lets you be who you are in the moment with gentle guidance towards the next level, then the next, and so on. The best away to meet these people is to get into the flow of the field you want to be in. Building natural relationships, growing as an artist, and maintaining professional standards is the gold standard. You attract what you give out to the world.
