Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Riddle
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career over 20 years ago by starting a wedding company that produced about 500 weddings per year. While I loved being a part of the wedding industry, I eventually decided to sell the business and scale back to focus more on my passion for creativity and design offering a boutique service. This shift allowed me to dive deeper into sourcing unique elements for events, creating custom balloon garlands for all occasions, and designing festive backdrops, blending my love for planning with milestone celebrations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Having two decades of business, marketing, and event experience, the journey to start Isle of Parties has been a fun and rewarding path. However, like any business, there have been challenges along the way. Some of the main struggles I’ve faced include a shortage of supplies, ensuring balloons can withstand the Charleston heat and wind, and dealing with the unpredictability of rain for outdoor events. To stay one step ahead, I always have a backup plan in place—sometimes even several backup plans!

Isle of Parties specializes in crafting events that exude the Lowcountry charm and unparalleled aesthetics, resulting in cherished memories. Isle of Parties is driven by their dedication to translating mothers’ visions into reality, ensuring children’s happiness in the process. Achieving an exquisite equilibrium between visual appeal and the enjoyment of all attendees, Isle of Parties ensures events are both unforgettable and delightful. From petite rentals (think adorable toddler tables and chairs, vintage spindle high chairs) to show stopping backdrops, we take the party to the next level!
I am most proud of setting a strong example of what a working mother looks like. My children see the effort and dedication required to craft a custom event and often participate in age-appropriate tasks behind the scenes, witnessing the entire production process. While most clients only see the grand finale, involving my children allows them to appreciate the hard work that goes into each event. What sets me apart from others is my extensive experience in event planning, which enables me to ensure that every step of the process is clear, client expectations are exceeded, and the overall experience is seamless and stress-free.
Any big plans?
I plan to continue expanding our inventory and look forward to working more closely with corporate companies for grand openings and fundraisers. I’m also excited about increasing our involvement within the community, particularly with school events, to bring creative and memorable experiences to a broader audience.
A long-term goal is to establish a brick-and-mortar location where we can host children’s birthday parties with a charming Southern aesthetic, creating a unique and memorable experience for every celebration.
