Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Clark.
Hi Annette, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We were a small home based grooming business that studied nutrition for pets and formulated our own natural dog shampoo products, Groomers Secret.
We moved out to a retail location almost 19 years ago. We are a one stop, mom and pop shop for pets needs including full service grooming, a self service dog wash, a la cart grooming services such as nail grinding and touch up trimming. We give nutritional advice from our certified staff on allergies and proper nutrition. We carry a full line of holistic pet foods and treats that we can match up to your pet’s lifestyle and medical needs. We offer free skin and coat exams and allergy test can be purchased. With 45 years in the pet world, we have experience in dog training, showing, basic obedience, skin and coat issues as well as proper nutrition including supplements. We started with a staff of 4 people and now employ 12.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We were fortunate to have Summerville dog rescues behind us from the start which helped us reach those that needed us. The recession in 2008-2009 was a struggle but we continued to grow despite it. The larger you grow the harder it is but we employ some wonderful people that put our clients first. We believe in customer service the old fashion way!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are totally different than any other pet supply or grooming shop. We put the dog first and believe in old fashion customer service. Our employees are certified in nutrition or grooming depending and all have a huge heart for their job. We have helped hundreds of thousands of pet owners figure out why their dogs itch or found a holistic food that matches their needs. Our groomers do what is best for each dog and we do not rush them through the process. I think what I am most proud of is the continued thank you that clients bring us! I am also very proud of my staff. They give 110% everyday!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have lived in Summerville since I was 5 years old. This town, once small, raised me, birthed my children, gave me my wife, and in return I hope I have helped enough people with their pets needs to pay that debt. There is nothing about Summerville that I dislike. I love this town!
