Community Highlights: Meet Tre’La Peters of Mama T Herbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tre’La Peters.

Hi Tre’La, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began long before I ever started a business. I’ve always been passionate about helping people, especially women and families, live healthier and more empowered lives. After serving in the military and working in traditional corporate roles, I realized my true calling was in wellness, education, and advocacy.

My own experiences with pregnancy, motherhood, healing, and navigating life’s challenges opened my eyes to the importance of holistic support. That passion led me to become a certified birth doula, herbalist, wellness coach, and placenta specialist. In 2019, I founded Mama T Herbs & Doula Services LLC with a mission to support women through every stage of their journey—from fertility and pregnancy to postpartum healing and overall wellness.

Over the years, the business has grown far beyond what I initially imagined. What started as a desire to help a few families has expanded into serving clients across multiple states, partnering with organizations that improve birth outcomes, speaking at wellness events, authoring my book Fearless Birthing, and creating educational opportunities for aspiring doulas.

Most recently, I launched Glow Sip by MTH, a cold-pressed juice company designed to make wellness more accessible through fresh, nutrient-dense beverages. Whether I’m supporting a family during childbirth, creating herbal remedies, teaching future birth workers, or introducing someone to healthier lifestyle choices through juice, the mission remains the same: helping people reclaim their health, confidence, and power.

The road hasn’t always been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced setbacks, personal challenges, and moments of uncertainty. However, each obstacle reinforced my purpose and reminded me why this work matters. Today, I am proud to be building businesses that not only create income but also create impact, education, and healing within my community.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: people deserve to feel supported, informed, and empowered in their wellness journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. While I am grateful for how far I’ve come, entrepreneurship has been anything but a smooth road.

One of the biggest challenges has been self-funding nearly every aspect of my businesses. From training and certifications to inventory, marketing, equipment, vendor fees, and operational expenses, much of the growth has come directly from reinvesting my own earnings back into the business. There have been many moments where I had to make difficult decisions, wear multiple hats, and find creative ways to move forward with limited resources.

Another challenge has been finding affordable commercial real estate opportunities. As a wellness entrepreneur, I have explored storefront options for both my herbal and juice businesses, but many available spaces come with rental rates and startup costs that are simply not realistic for small business owners. Access to reasonably priced commercial space remains a significant barrier for many entrepreneurs who are trying to serve their communities while growing sustainably.

Like many business owners, I’ve also faced setbacks, unexpected expenses, balancing family responsibilities, and navigating industries where holistic wellness and birth work are sometimes misunderstood or undervalued. There have been moments when things moved slower than I hoped, partnerships didn’t work out, or opportunities fell through at the last minute.

However, every challenge has taught me something valuable. Those experiences have strengthened my faith, sharpened my business skills, and reinforced my commitment to the work I do. I’ve learned how to pivot, build relationships, create opportunities where they don’t exist, and continue showing up even when the path isn’t easy.

Today, I view those struggles as part of the foundation of my success. They’ve helped shape me into a more resilient entrepreneur, advocate, and community leader, and they remind me that growth isn’t always about having the perfect circumstances—it’s about continuing to move forward despite the obstacles.

We’ve been impressed with Mama T Herbs , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mama T Herbs & Doula Services LLC is a holistic wellness company dedicated to supporting individuals and families through natural healing, education, and empowerment. We specialize in birth doula services, herbal wellness products, placenta encapsulation, wellness coaching, and reproductive health education. More recently, we expanded our mission through Glow Sip by MTH, our cold-pressed juice brand focused on making wellness accessible through nutrient-dense beverages.

What makes our business unique is that we don’t focus on just one stage of a person’s journey—we support people across multiple areas of wellness. Whether someone is preparing for pregnancy, navigating childbirth, recovering postpartum, looking for natural wellness solutions, or simply trying to improve their overall health, we strive to provide resources, education, and support that meet them where they are.

I am particularly known for my work as a birth doula and advocate for women seeking informed, empowered birth experiences. I am passionate about helping families feel confident in their choices and ensuring they have the education and support needed to make decisions that align with their values and goals. Through herbal wellness and nutrition, I also help individuals explore natural approaches to supporting their health and wellness.

What sets us apart is our commitment to combining evidence-based education with traditional wellness practices. We believe healing should be personalized, accessible, and culturally relevant. Our clients are never treated like a number—they are treated like family. We take the time to listen, educate, and create individualized support plans that honor each person’s unique needs.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the trust we have built within our community. Many of our clients come through referrals, repeat business, and word-of-mouth recommendations, which speaks volumes about the relationships we’ve cultivated. I’m also proud that we’ve been able to grow while staying true to our mission of service, authenticity, and empowerment.

Above all, I want readers to know that our brand is about more than products or services—it’s about helping people reclaim their power, advocate for themselves, and prioritize their wellness. Whether we’re supporting a family during childbirth, creating herbal remedies, educating future doulas, or serving fresh cold-pressed juice, our goal remains the same: to create healthier, stronger, and more informed communities.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
If I had to choose one quality that has contributed most to my success, it would be resilience. Entrepreneurship, motherhood, and building a mission-driven business all come with challenges, setbacks, and unexpected obstacles. There have been many moments when it would have been easier to quit, but I’ve learned how to adapt, stay focused on my purpose, and keep moving forward.

I believe success isn’t about avoiding difficulties—it’s about how you respond to them. My resilience, combined with a genuine passion for serving others, has allowed me to continue growing, learning, and creating opportunities even when circumstances weren’t ideal. That determination has been the driving force behind everything I’ve built.
