Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Fulmer
Hi Tessa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born into the wellness industry as my father was a surgeon and weight loss doctor, and our family had a day spa in my teen years. Esthetics sort of fell into my lap, but my passion was not in the industry. It wasn’t until almost 15 years into my career that I was connected to more holistic and functional modalities like manual lymphatic drainage, Gua Sha, connective tissue/fascia manipulation, and so many more. I’ve been a licensed esthetician for almost 25 years, and I also obtained my licensure in massage therapy. I recently became a certified lymphedema therapist, working with post cancer patients, and those suffering with both lymphedema and lipedema, as well as my certification for post surgical manual lymphatic drainage. My work focuses on the client, as it is very bio individualized, and we both work together to find treatments that nurture the mind, body, and soul. It’s lovely helping clients get away from the hustle and bustle, and bringing some calm to the nervous system with a beauty meets wellness approach.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I did not find my passion until I was driven into the holistic world. After suffering with health issues and having a child with some very complex medical problems, I looked to functional medicine and holistic options to find the root cause. I had always been pulled to holistic options, as my own parents were influential with these concepts growing up, despite my father being in conventional medicine. This is where my passion and zest for learning truly blossomed. I still struggle a bit with the balancing act of being a business owner and mother, but I’ve never felt so excited about my career. So many days I have to pinch myself, and feel so grateful for the connections with clients. I truly feel like I’m helping in this world.
