Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammara J Banks
Hi Tammara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was a little girl, I loved fashion and beauty. My sister and I were 9mos apart. Our mother wanted to dress us as twins, but I wanted my sense of individuality, not knowing it was identity. I would tell her what colors looked better on my sister and what colors would look better on my skin complexion. I even altered my clothes to fit my personality. At 8 years old, I had a sense of my style; not only that, but I could see how to elevate other people’s styles. As I grew into my teenage and young adult years, I would style myself, my friends, and my family as a hobby.
In 2013, my father was dying from liver cancer. I developed skin issues due to stress. I went to YouTube University and taught myself how to do my makeup; I became so good at it that the girls from my neighborhood would get me to do their makeup for prom. I pursued becoming a certified makeup artist. I got my certification, and I did freelance makeup on the side as a hobby as well.
In 2016, I gave my life to Christ. In 2017, I got married, and I immediately found myself in an identity crisis. I joined the church; I was ridiculed about my hair color, makeup, and choice of clothing. They would give a complaint, but with unconstructive criticism, I began to feel unworthy, ashamed, unhappy, depressed., and rejected. I prayed to God; He revealed they misrepresented him. To come out of the church and build an intimate relationship with him so that he could restore my identity in him so that I could teach his sons and daughters how to discover or rediscover their identity in Christ.
I moved myself, my two boys, and my mom to Greenville, SC, in 2019 with just a word from God. My mother was also diagnosed with Dementia, so I was a full-time caregiver in a new state and navigating going from the role of a daughter to the role of being a mother to my mother. Covid came in 2020, and we all were in disarray. In March of 2021, I joined Style Academy and became a certified Style Coach. I realized while studying to be certified as a Style Coach that this could not only build a legacy for my family, but I could also impact the world through the word of God. I love what I do. I love seeing the renewal of their minds transform people. Only once you embrace who you are can you be confident in who God called you to be; purpose becomes sweatless now you understand God created you to do great works.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It could have been a smoother ride. I had to learn how to be humble, patient, and sacrificial. Learning comes with experiences, distractions, delays, detours, difficulties, and dead-ends. Through this, God is preparing us to steward and multiply what he has already given us. When God chose us, he didn’t choose a perfect person. However, it was purposeful. I had enough of God’s word in me so that when those challenges came and put pressure on me, what was in me came out. I survived only because of that. It fueled me to keep going.
I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Fashionably Kingdom Woman?

- “I want women to experience the BAWSE Life! Being a BAWSE is more of a mindset, how you feel, how you look, and how you dress, How you make others feel, making it a BAWSE Lifestyle.” – Tammara
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
This is not a Job or a business. This is why I was created. I am being fulfilled watching others transform into who God created them to be. I learn more about who I am with each client as I assist them with their generalized needs. So it’s an eco-system of reciprocity; what I give comes back to me multiplied, giving me the freedom to provide more,
