Today we’d like to introduce you to Shameka Huff
Hi Shameka, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Some moments in life change everything. For Shameka Huff, one of those moments was surviving breast cancer, a journey that tested her strength but also deepened her gratitude for life. Overcoming such a challenge made her realize something powerful: she had been given a second chance, and she wanted to use it to make a difference.
As she reflected on her purpose, she saw a need that couldn’t be ignored. Too many families were struggling to provide for their babies—essentials like diapers, formula, and clothing weren’t always within reach. Shameka knew firsthand what it felt like to face uncertainty, and she didn’t want any parent to feel alone in their struggles.
With a heart full of determination and a deep desire to celebrate her life by giving back, she founded United for Baby. What started as a small effort to help a few families quickly grew into a powerful movement of love, support, and community. People came together, generosity spread, and soon, United for Baby became a place where families could find hope, relief, and the reassurance that someone cared.
At United for Baby, our mission is simple but life-changing: to ensure that every baby has access to the essential supplies and support they need for a healthy, happy start in life.
No parent should have to choose between paying bills and providing for their child. By supplying families with diapers, formula, clothing, and more, we help lift some of the burdens so parents can focus on what truly matters; loving and nurturing their little ones.
United for Baby isn’t just an organization—it’s a family. We stand together to uplift and support each other, making sure no parent feels isolated or overwhelmed. Through generosity, kindness, teamwork and support of our community, we’re building a world where every baby is wrapped in care & every parent is united with support.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey of United for Baby has been incredibly rewarding, but it hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many organizations dedicated to helping families in need, we’ve faced challenges along the way.
One of the biggest struggles has been ensuring we have the funding and resources to reach every baby and family who needs us. The demand for support is always growing, and while our hearts are limitless, our resources are not. We rely on the generosity of our community; citizens who believe in our mission and make it possible for us to provide essentials like diapers, wipes, formula, and othe needed items to families in crisis.
We’ve also had to navigate unexpected obstacles, from increase in diaper prices to infant formula supply shortages. The love and support from our donors and volunteers remind us why we do this work, and we truly couldn’t do it without them.
Every challenge has only strengthened our resolve to make sure no baby goes without the care they deserve. We are so grateful for those who stand with us—because together, we are making a real difference.

What’s next?
At United for Baby, we’re always looking ahead with hope and excitement! Our biggest goal is to expand our reach so that even more babies and families receive the essentials they need to thrive. We’re working on growing our programs, strengthening partnerships, and finding new ways to provide support—whether through increased diaper and formula distributions, educational resources for parents, or community-driven initiatives.
One of the things we’re most excited about is the possibility of opening additional partnership distribution programs, making it even easier for families to access help when they need it most. We’re also exploring new ways to engage our amazing supporters—because everything we do is only possible with the kindness of supporters.
