Community Highlights: Meet Sarah Ball of Hormone Goddess

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Ball.

Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was what our culture calls a high-functioning achiever, praised for pushing through stress, rewarded for burnout, and celebrated for how much I could carry, while my body was quietly breaking down underneath it all. Eventually, my body began to reflect the cost of living this way, and I could no longer ignore it.
After gaining 30 pounds in a single month and taking a closer look at the side effects of the birth control pill I had been on for seven years to manage heavy periods, I decided to stop taking it. At 21, when I came off the pill, I lost my period for three years. At first, I was relieved not to deal with what I once thought of as “the curse of being a woman,” but over time I came to understand that my cycle was actually a vital sign of my health. When it finally returned, it didn’t feel like relief, it felt like my body was in crisis mode. I ended up in the ER multiple times with severe pain from my period, ruptured ovarian cysts, and a body that felt inflamed, unpredictable, and impossible to trust.

For years, I lived with chronic constipation, bloating, brain fog, insomnia, painful periods, post-menopausal hormones in my 20s, overwhelm, and feeling wired but tired. My world became smaller and smaller until I could only tolerate a handful of foods. After a few years of advocating for myself, going from doctor to doctor, and seeing at least seven different specialists, I was was eventually diagnosed with PCOS now known as PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome), IBS-C, CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome), Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, cervical dysplasia, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. While getting answers initially felt validating, I quickly realized the solutions being offered revolved around life-long medication, “managing stress,” and being told to eat less and exercise more. Deep down, I knew those approaches were not addressing the deeper root cause, so I decided to learn and educate myself by first becoming a Duke University health and well-being coach, then this eventually led to becoming a certified functional medicine practitioner (CFMP) and functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner (FDNP).

Underneath all of my symptoms, was a deeper layer of emotional trauma, mold toxicity, an eating disorder, and the experience of helping my late father navigate early-onset Alzheimer’s at just 58. All of it profoundly shaped my understanding of the nervous system, cellular energy, and what prolonged stress from culture and toxins can do to the body over time.

At the same time, I was carrying the invisible weight many women carry: chronic stress, unresolved trauma, environmental toxins, nervous system overload, nutrient depletion, over giving, and soul-level burnout from trying to survive within a culture that rewards self-sacrifice. Like so many women, I was conditioned to tie my worth to performance, to see self-care as selfish, to suppress emotions, to ignore intuition, to push through pain, and to treat rest as something to earn. Slowing down felt like failure, needing support felt like weakness, and my body’s signals became inconveniences instead of guidance.

My final breaking point came when I developed a life-threatening small bowel obstruction after an intense detox protocol. I was trying everything to fix my health and kept pushing my body harder in the name of healing without realizing I had already drained my body’s ability to keep up. That experience made it painfully clear that I was not dealing with a lack of effort but with a body that had run out of energy at a deep cellular level. The truth is I was running a powerful life on underpowered biology in a modern world full of stress and toxins that were demanding more than my body could handle.

Looking back, it’s clear this didn’t happen overnight. It was the buildup of years spent out of alignment with my authentic self, stuck in a functional freeze, appearing capable, productive, and high-achieving on the outside while internally exhausted, overextended, and disconnected from my body. So while I was trying to “heal” my body like it was another exhausting task to complete, I was still operating through the hormones of stress when what it actually needed was deep nourishment and a more aligned way of living, one that allowed me to reconnect with my body and come back into alignment with my soul. Eventually, I could no longer compensate and what looked like hormonal, metabolic, and digestive chaos was just a wise body asking for support.

I realized this culturally conditioned approach often repeats the same patterns that created the dysfunction in the first place, overriding intuition, living under pressure, suppressing emotions, and ignoring the body’s signals. Combined with the burden of modern toxins, it creates the perfect storm for the body to breakdown. What became clear to me is that healing is not found in forcing the body to comply, but in listening to the deeper intelligence already built within it.

The body is guided by an innate intelligence and runs on cellular energy. When that energy is depleted for too long, the body struggles to do what it’s naturally designed to do: regulate the nervous system, produce hormones, digest, detoxify, and maintain overall balance and well-being. The body already knows what to do, but it can only follow its natural healing sequence when it has enough energy. When that flow is disrupted, healing can slow down or stall. When you restore cellular energy and create the right conditions, the body is able to return to its natural order and activate its own self-healing capacity.

Over time, my body began to shift in ways I honestly didn’t think were possible for me. My cycle became easy and pain-free, the inflammation calmed down, and the constant bloated, “six months pregnant” feeling finally disappeared. My digestion became consistent, I detoxed my body of parasites, heavy metals, toxins, and gut pathogens, I could eat without fear of reactions, and my mind felt clear and focused instead of foggy. What stood out most was how much calmer my whole body became. I was less reactive, able to actually relax, and felt a steady sense of peace. For the first time in years, I felt fully back in my own body again. The best part is I have overcome every diagnosis I was once given, and today I live in a peak level of health that goes far beyond remission.

What came next surprised me even more. As my body healed, more of my authentic self came back online. It felt like my biology was helping me awaken into my purpose and potential. I became more intuitive, more creative, more in my feminine energy, and more alive. I followed that unfolding into my work, eventually supporting over 1,200 people through my business Hormone Goddess and mentoring hundreds of practitioners to build soul-led, holistic health practices of their own.

Today, my philosophy is simple yet revolutionary. Cellular energy is the currency for changing your health and your life. When you restore it, the body remembers how to heal, and your life force begins to return from cells to soul!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely been a bumpy road! I’ve faced a significant amount of adversity that, at the time, felt overwhelming and at points even frightening. On the outside I looked like a high-achieving, capable woman, but internally I was dealing with serious health collapse, hormonal chaos, and a nervous system stuck in survival for years.

I went through years without a period, repeated ER visits for ruptured ovarian cysts and painful periods, severe digestive issues, inflammation, insomnia, brain fog, life-threatening small bowel obstruction due to an aggressive parasite detox protocol without cellular energy and drainage support, multiple labels along the way such as (PCOS, IBS-C, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, hashimotos thyroiditis autoimmune condition, non-alcoholic fatty liver, CIRS, cervical dysplasia) and a body that felt like it was no longer working with me. On top of that were layers of mold exposure, chronic stress, a harsh inner critic, an eating disorder, emotional trauma, and the weight of caring for my father through early-onset Alzheimer’s while I was in my late 20’s (my father was diagnosed at 58 and died 7 years later in 2023).

I’m no longer living under those labels or symptoms. My life force is fully back online, and my body and soul feel connected again. This path transformed my pain into my purpose and became the foundation for my work: helping create a world where hormone and digestive struggles are no longer seen as inevitable for women, but optional.

At the core of it all is restoring life force—from the cellular level all the way to the soul—so women can expand their nervous system capacity and fully embody what God hired them for!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hormone Goddess?
Hormone Goddess is on a mission to create the healthiest generation of women yet. At Hormone Goddess we’re changing the conversation around women’s health. We don’t see hormone imbalances, gut issues, fatigue, brain fog, infertility, autoimmunity, or perimenopause symptoms as something we have to “manage” or struggle with for life. We see these as downstream effects of low cellular energy.

Over the past 10 years of clinical research and working with hundreds of ambitious, high functioning women, including fully healing myself, I’ve learned something foundational: when the body is underpowered at the cellular level, everything begins to lose coherence.

Cellular energy is the currency that drives your hormones, your health, and your entire life experience. The truth is most women are not stuck. They are depleted, running powerful lives on underpowered biology.

I’m especially known for my speciality in minerals using the HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) as a foundational tool to assess cellular energy. Minerals impact everything from hormones and thyroid health to digestion, stress resilience, and metabolism.

Through my Hormone Goddess Method™, women are guided out of what I call cellular survival mode and brought back into their full life force, from cells to soul. This is a deep cellular restoration of the internal systems that shape how a woman feels and shows up in her life. We assess mineral status, support the biology of the nervous system (most miss this piece), strengthen liver and detox pathways, address the parasite trauma connection and toxic burden, and rebuild cellular energy so the body can operate from capacity instead of depletion.

The most amazing things happen when cellular energy returns! First, the body’s innate intelligence activates and starts to bring all of your systems back into alignment. Then, the nervous system settles at a biological level, digestion and detoxification come fully back online, hormones begin to balance, clarity returns, and a woman reconnects to her intuition, creativity, and authentic self in a way she may have forgotten was possible. Many women describe this process as a return to their feminine instincts, a reconnection that propels them toward their soul’s calling and the impact they’re here to make in the world. When a woman’s energy comes fully online, she doesn’t just feel better, she becomes a catalyst for creation, innovation, and meaningful change.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think what people often call luck is usually a combination of courage, preparation, timing, and willingness to keep going. Of course, I’ve had blessings…meeting the right people, opportunities opening unexpectedly, clients finding me at the perfect time. I’m grateful for all of that.

But I’ve also had moments that looked like”bad luck”: setbacks, delays, health struggles, pivots, seasons where growth felt slow. Looking back, many of those moments were redirections. They deepened my faith, grew my mission, strengthened my character, and aligned me with my soul’s work. So I don’t rely on luck. I rely on vision, faith, aligned action, consistency, and being willing to evolve.
