Today we’d like to introduce you to Sallie Vaughan-Pric.
Hi Sallie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Good Company Yoga started in 2018 with a simple idea: yoga should feel welcoming, accessible, and, most importantly, fun.
I wanted to create yoga experiences that felt different from the traditional studio setting. Instead of asking people to come to a yoga studio, why not bring yoga to the places they already love to spend time? That idea became the foundation of Good Company Yoga.
What started with a few pop-up classes has grown into a community built around movement, connection, and trying something a little different. Over the years, Good Company Yoga has brought yoga to coffee shops, breweries, outdoor spaces, community events, and other unexpected places including free classes at the South Carolina Statehouse.
The goal has always stayed the same: create a space where everyone feels comfortable showing up exactly as they are. You don’t have to be flexible, experienced, or even know what you’re doing. You just have to show up.
Good Company Yoga is about good movement, good people, and good company and creating experiences that make you want to come back.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Good Company Yoga has grown and evolved over the years, but it hasn’t happened overnight or without a lot of trial and error. There have been events that didn’t fill, ideas that didn’t work, unexpected challenges, and plenty of moments where I questioned whether I should keep going.
Building something on your own means wearing a lot of hats (teacher, marketer, event planner, photographer, social media manager, accountant, and everything in between). There have been seasons where life and work made it difficult to give the business the time and energy I wanted to.
But I kept coming back to the reason I started it in the first place.
Good Company Yoga has never been about building a traditional yoga studio. It’s about creating experiences and bringing people together in places where they already feel comfortable. And every time someone tells me they tried yoga for the first time at one of my classes, met a friend, or simply left feeling better than when they arrived, I’m reminded why I keep doing it.
The road hasn’t been perfectly smooth but I think that’s what makes the journey worth sharing. Good Company Yoga is still growing, still changing, and still figuring things out. And honestly, I’m excited to see where it goes next.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Good Company Yoga ?
I want people to know that Good Company Yoga is about so much more than yoga.
Yes, we move our bodies. Yes, we breathe. Yes, there’s usually a savasana. But at the heart of Good Company Yoga is connection.
I created this brand because I wanted yoga to feel approachable and accessible, not intimidating, exclusive, or like something you have to be “good at.” You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need a certain body type. You don’t need years of experience. You just need to show up.
I also believe yoga doesn’t have to happen inside a traditional studio. Some of my favorite classes have happened in coffee shops, breweries, outdoor spaces, community events, and other unexpected places. There’s something special about bringing people together in places they already love and creating a shared experience from there.
Most importantly, I want Good Company Yoga to feel like good company. I want you to come to class, meet people, laugh a little, move your body, and leave feeling better than when you arrived.
The brand has grown since I started it in 2018, but that feeling hasn’t changed. Good Company Yoga is for real people, in real places, creating space to move, connect, and enjoy the moment.
Come as you are. There’s a spot for you here.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In five to ten years, I see Good Company Yoga becoming much bigger than the pop-up classes it started with but I don’t want it to lose the heart that made me start it.
I envision Good Company Yoga as a recognizable brand throughout South Carolina and beyond, known for creating unique yoga experiences in unexpected places. I’d love to partner with more local businesses, organizations, festivals, wellness events, and communities to bring yoga to people who may not otherwise walk into a traditional studio.
I also see opportunities to grow the community beyond in-person classes through retreats, special events, corporate and private wellness experiences, virtual offerings, and larger community events.
But growth isn’t just about having more classes or reaching more people. I want Good Company Yoga to continue to feel personal. I want people to recognize the name and immediately think: That sounds fun. I want to be part of that.
Ultimately, I hope Good Company Yoga becomes a brand that shows people yoga can happen anywhere and that wellness doesn’t have to be serious, intimidating, or one-size-fits-all. It can be social, welcoming, creative, and genuinely enjoyable.
I don’t know exactly what the next five or ten years will look like, and that’s part of the excitement. I just know I want to keep creating good experiences, bringing people together, and seeing how far this little idea can grow.
