Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Gero.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started full-time work right out of college. I thought I would climb the corporate ladder, corner office in a high-rise, coffee in hand. Instead I was in a cubical, bored out of my mind. I taught myself how to use Publisher, opened an Etsy shop, became featured on their front page, and the rest is history! From there I couldn’t stop creating, strategizing, learning the ins-and-outs of marketing, creating, building, branding, and constantly learning. I had a few side gigs over the years, but at the end of 2023 I threw my hat in the ring and went totally out on my own. I thought it would take me at least a year to grow my business in a way that would allow me to work from home and create the lifestyle I wanted for my family, but two weeks later I had a full deck of clients. I’ve never looked back!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As any business goes, its a learning process. I’ve had busy seasons and slower seasons. I’ve had to learn how to stay intentional with the vision I have for my personal life and build my business around those goals.
At the end of the day, its always better to hold those choices for myself instead of having to answer to a boss/corporation/etc. It takes extra work, but the value is irreplaceable to me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Known Social Studio?
I’m a Virtual Marketing Assistant. I specialize in coming alongside start-ups, small business owners, and entrepreneurs and tackling all things marketing. You’ll typically find me building a website, designing graphics, editing videos, managing social media accounts, strategizing campaigns, or mentoring others who are trying to break into the Virtual Marketing Assistant world.
What sets me apart is probably my fascination with learning. When I don’t know how to do something, I learn how to do it on my own. Because I’m obsessed with figuring things out, I’ve accidentally become a jack-of-all-trades. I often get hired for one thing, like managing social media, and get contracted for more hours when people find out I can also build their website, manage their CRM system, create their drip campaigns, and connect them with local PR outlets.
What I’m most proud of is the lifestyle I’ve been able to create with my family. I’ve worked really hard and at times really crazy hours (always with the help of my husband) to get myself into a position where I am. I homeschool, I train for running, I have time for random adventures on a Tuesday morning with my son, and spur-of-the-moment trips with my husband. We love living life together, not with our leftover time. I feel deeply blessed.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Honestly, my success doesn’t just come from myself. I’ve had people speak life into me when I was burnt out and discouraged. I’ve had friends and family cheer me on and hold me up. While I do have wild grit, the Lord has blessed so much from the work of my hands. We are all created with gifts and talents and passions. Living them out is deeply fulfilling and a gift in itself.
