Community Highlights: Meet Nico Romo of Kersey House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico Romo

Hi Nico, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent a large portion of my early career in Charleston working at Patrick Properties, a hospitality group doing multiple weddings a week every week! Those years bringing happiness to all of our guests inspired me to want to open my own event space, and so Kersey House was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is never a completely smooth road to opening a business, especially in hospitality. That being said, I have a super strong team and many of them have been with me for many years to help build a strong foundation that allows our group to grow in a sustainable way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Kersey House is the fourth and newest property in my hospitality group, Nico Romo Hospitality Group. We have two properties in the Charleston area, NICO Oysters+ Seafood in Mt. Pleasant which opened in 2017. Bistronomy by Nico, downtown Charleston which opened in 2020. We have two properties in the Summerville area, Laura which opened in 2022, and now Kersey House which opened in February 2025.

Kersey House is a full-service event venue and French Bistro located downtown Summerville in a fully restored historic property. We are so proud of all of the work we have done restoring the property and are thrilled to be a part of the special occasions and day-to-day life of the incredible Summerville community. The bistro is open daily from 11-8 and we are booking private events for 2025, 2026 and beyond!

What makes you happy?
My team, my family, and my work. I feel extremely fulfilled with the business and life I have built in Charleston and I couldn’t have done it without the support of the amazing community and my family! I am grateful to be a part of the Charleston hospitality landscape and hope to be for many years to come.
