Hi Nate, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been back and forth between construction and hospitality for the entirety of my life, and the skills I learned from both arenas helped shape my specific skill set that I would need as the business owner that I am today. I recognized a need for post-construction job site cleanups, maintenance and exterior care for new construction projects, and exterior cleaning in general for commercial and residential sites as well.
My main motivation for getting started was the freedom to make my own schedule. I’m super conscious of my time and I value how it’s spent, so staying schedule-oriented and making sure I keep myself productive is the biggest benefit to operating my own business. I also enjoy the responsibility of being the owner — if the business fails, it’s on me. and on the flip side of that coin, if it succeeds, it’s also on me! That challenge keeps me motivated, for sure.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, the startup was the least smooth part of the journey. Startup costs, gaining my first clients, and setting myself up to move forward financially were the major hurdles. But I had a solid approach, a sensible business plan, and a desire to succeed. That set me up for a mostly smooth ride since I’ve gotten into the swing of things.
We’ve been impressed with Top Notch Cleaning Solutions, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I provide exterior/interior cleaning services for commercial and residential properties in the upstate, including gutter & roof cleaning/maintenance, deck and fence staining, chimney sweep services, and commercial site cleanups. I offer free estimates and consultations, can usually provide services within 72 hours, and I give 10% off for veterans and seniors too! I’m most proud of the fact that I’m able to perform most of the services myself — not only because I want to be sure they’re done correctly, but I love staying active and working outside!
Any big plans?
Eventually, I’d like to scale up to the point where the entire business can be operated remotely. The advantages of AI would ideally be implemented as I get bigger, so that tasks like scheduling, admin, and payroll can all be handled with a few clicks from anywhere in the world. I absolutely love to travel, so getting my business to the point that I’m able to be hands-off and let the automations do their work is a priority moving forward.
