Hi Natalie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I never planned on owning a salon — in fact, I had absolutely no background in cosmetology, beauty, or the salon world. But sometimes the biggest blessings in life arrive in the most unexpected ways.
A very good friend of mine previously owned the Salon at South Poinsett. I’d been a loyal customer for years, and I always loved the atmosphere — the warmth, the creativity, the laughter that seemed to live in the walls. When she decided it was time to sell, she asked if I would be interested in taking it over.
It was completely spur-of-the-moment. I didn’t come from this industry. I didn’t have a plan. But something in me felt drawn to say yes.
Owning the salon has turned out to be one of the greatest joys of my life. I handle all the business and marketing side of things — the part I do understand — and in return, I’ve gained the most incredible community. My stylists are not just talented professionals; they are truly a pleasure to work with.
This place has filled my life with purpose, connection, and gratitude. What started as a spontaneous “yes” has become one of the biggest blessings I’ve ever received, and I’m so thankful every day that it found its way to me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, there haven’t been many struggles. I’ve been incredibly blessed to have a salon manager, Michelle Pearson, who has been with Salon at South Poinsett since the day it opened almost ten years ago. She knows the business inside and out, and her experience made the entire transition seamless. Because of her, the salon has continued to run with the same steady rhythm and reliability it always has.

Salon at South Poinsett is a well-established, community-focused salon located in Travelers Rest. We are known for our welcoming environment, skilled stylists, and the consistency that comes from having a strong, experienced team. My role centers on overseeing operations, business management, and marketing to ensure our team has the support they need to provide exceptional service.
In addition to our salon professionals, we are proud to host three independent businesses within our space:
• Pretty Please Aesthetics — offering Botox, fillers, facials, brows, lashes, and a full range of aesthetic services.
• Mindful X — specializing in all-natural, holistic hair-care and wellness-focused treatments.
• House of Styles — a boutique clothing rack located in our front waiting area, providing curated fashion options for our clients.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a shy but very curious child. I tended to be more reserved, happiest when I was observing, learning, and taking everything in. I’ve always been someone who felt just a little different — in the best way. I saw the world in my own unique way, and I gravitated toward things that sparked my imagination and made me think.
I was deeply interested in music, stories, and anything nostalgic. I loved understanding people, paying attention to details, and finding meaning in the small things others might overlook. Even as a child, I was thoughtful, gentle, and naturally introspective — more of an old soul than anything else.
Looking back, those qualities shaped who I am today: someone who values connection, creativity, and making people feel cared for.
