Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexie Murray.
Hi Lexie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I actually started photography as a hobby while I was in college studying to become a nurse. What began as a small creative outlet quickly turned into something much more as friends and people in my community started asking me to photograph sessions for them. Those small sessions gradually grew, and I soon found myself photographing weddings and larger milestones. Once I stepped into the wedding industry, things really began to take off for me and I quickly discovered that wedding photography was my true passion.
As my business developed, I realized how much I loved documenting meaningful moments and genuine emotion. While nursing and photography are very different fields, they both revolve around people, connection, and being present during important moments in someone’s life.Today, my photography business has grown into something I’m incredibly grateful for, and I feel so fortunate so have been blessed with this amazing opportunity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges early on was balancing nursing school while also building my photography business. Managing both taught me a lot about discipline, organization, and how to run a business while still serving my community as a nurse.
Even now, the biggest challenge is finding time for myself and my family. It’s difficult working two full time jobs so trying to maintain a healthy work-life balance is something I’m always working on. Each challenge has played a role in shaping who I am today and has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I am extremely grateful to be able to do what I do.

Lexie Murray Photography is based in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, serving couples and families since 2017. I specialize in wedding and portrait photography, capturing some of life’s most meaningful moments.
My work is known for its light and airy, timeless style. I’m drawn to soft natural light, genuine emotion, and creating classic imagery that will feel just as beautiful years from now as it does today.
What sets my work apart is the attention to detail and the consistency I strive to maintain in every gallery I deliver. I take great pride in the quality of my work and in every photo I edit. Photography is not just a “job” to me. My photos represent my brand, my business name, and the trust my clients place in me to document some of the most important moments of their lives. Because of that, I approach every image with care and intention, ensuring the work I deliver reflects the high standard I hold for my brand.
What I’m most proud of is the growth of my business and the trusted reputation it has earned since 2017. Building Lexie Murray Photography into the brand it is today has taken years of dedication, hard work, and a commitment to continually learning and refining my work process. I strongly value the knowledge, experience, and consistency I’ve developed along the way while building a brand my clients feel confident choosing. Within just two years of business, Lexie Murray Photography was honored to be voted Best Photographer of Walterboro. Receiving this award so soon into my journey was incredibly encouraging and reinforced my passion for continuing to grow elevate the experience I provide for my clients.

Any big plans?
Moving forward, I’m focused on continuing to grow my wedding photography business and increasing the number of weddings I’m able to photograph each year. I’m excited to keep developing my style, connecting with more couples, and documenting even more meaningful moments.
