Community Highlights: Meet Kelly Schott of Wild Sage Healings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Schott.

Hi Kelly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My path into this work wasn’t linear, but in many ways it feels like everything I’ve experienced led me here. I entered the wellness field through bodywork, driven by a deep curiosity about how the body holds stress, pain, and emotion. Early in my career as a massage therapist, I began to notice that physical tension was rarely just physical. People weren’t only coming in with tight muscles, they were carrying life experiences, chronic stress, and emotional patterns that were showing up in their posture, movement, and nervous systems.

That realization led me to pursue deeper education in anatomy, somatic practices, and holistic health. Over time, my work evolved beyond traditional massage into a more integrative approach that supports the whole person, addressing nervous system regulation, movement patterns, lifestyle habits, and emotional well-being alongside physical pain relief. I became passionate about helping people reconnect with their bodies, not just to feel better temporarily, but to understand their bodies and participate in their own healing process.

Alongside clinical learning, movement and creative expression have always been important parts of my journey. Dance and artistic exploration became powerful tools for healing and self-awareness, reminding me that healing doesn’t only happen through structured therapy, but also through play, expression, and learning to feel at home in the body again. That perspective continues to shape how I work today, blending science, somatics, and creativity in a way that feels both grounded and human.

Wild Sage Healings grew naturally out of this evolution. What began as hands-on bodywork expanded into a broader vision that now includes somatic healing, movement education, and holistic wellness coaching. My work focuses on helping people understand the connection between physical pain, emotional health, and daily living, while giving them practical tools they can carry into their everyday lives.

Where I am now feels less like a destination and more like an ongoing unfolding. My goal has always been to create a space where healing feels accessible, supportive, and deeply human, where people can relieve pain, reconnect with themselves, and rediscover the wisdom already present within their bodies.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and in many ways the challenges have shaped both me and the work itself. Building a wellness business means learning to wear many hats at once, practitioner, educator, marketer, and entrepreneur, often while continuing to deepen your own training and personal growth. In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was learning how to balance my desire to help people with the realities of running a sustainable business.

Another challenge has been helping people understand a more holistic approach to healing. Many clients initially come in looking for a quick fix for pain, and part of my work has been gently educating people that lasting change often requires addressing nervous system patterns, movement habits, and lifestyle factors, not just treating symptoms. Shifting that perspective takes patience, trust, and a lot of communication.

There have also been personal challenges along the way that deepened my understanding of the work I offer today. Navigating my own growth and healing reinforced how interconnected physical, emotional, and mental well-being truly are. That lived experience ultimately strengthened my ability to hold space for others with empathy and authenticity.

Looking back, the obstacles were also teachers. They pushed me to refine my vision, clarify my values, and create a practice that feels sustainable, grounded, and aligned with why I started in the first place. Each challenge helped shape Wild Sage Healings into what it is today – a space focused not just on relieving pain, but on supporting lasting, meaningful change.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Wild Sage Healings was created from the understanding that healing rarely happens in just one place. Pain isn’t only physical, stress isn’t only mental, and wellness isn’t built through a single modality. Our work is rooted in supporting the whole person – helping people reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and cultivate a more balanced, nourishing relationship with their health through movement, bodywork, and education.

Many clients first come to us seeking relief from chronic tension or pain. What they often discover is that the body tells a much larger story. Through integrative bodywork and somatic healing, we explore posture, movement patterns, stress responses, and lifestyle habits, including how rest, nutrition, and daily rhythms influence how the body feels and functions. We focus on understanding why discomfort exists, not just how to temporarily relieve it. The goal is lasting change – helping people feel more at ease in their bodies and more empowered in their everyday lives.

Our work extends beyond the treatment room through workshops and movement-based classes that invite people into healing through experience. These gatherings blend somatic movement, posture awareness, holistic wellness education, and practices that explore how nourishment, movement, and nervous system health work together. Clients learn practical ways to support themselves in everyday life, whether through how they move, how they eat, or how they respond to stress.

Movement and creativity, including elements of dance and artistic expression, are woven throughout our approach because healing is not only something we analyze – it is something we feel and embody. Education is central to everything we offer, empowering clients to understand their bodies and build habits that support long-term wellness rather than temporary relief.

What sets our practice apart is the integration of clinical understanding with human expression. We combine anatomy and evidence-based bodywork with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, helping people reconnect with their body’s natural intelligence instead of becoming dependent on treatment. Each session is a partnership, a place to pause, explore, and rediscover what the body already knows.

Brand-wise, what we are most proud of is the environment we’ve cultivated. Many people arrive feeling disconnected or unheard within traditional wellness spaces, and our intention is to offer something different: a place that feels grounded, welcoming, and deeply attentive. Wild Sage Healings continues to grow as an ecosystem of care where bodywork, movement, nourishment, and education come together to support meaningful, sustainable transformation.

At its heart, our message is simple: healing doesn’t have to be intimidating or complicated. When people are given the tools, support, and space to listen to their bodies, meaningful change becomes possible – and often, it arrives with a sense of play, curiosity, and joy.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was curious, energetic, and endlessly creative. I loved movement, dance, and finding ways to express myself through art. I spent a lot of time playing alone, fully absorbed in my imagination – catching lizards, acting out pretend worlds, dressing up and performing “music videos” in front of my bedroom mirror, and cranking the music loud to dance across the couches when I was home alone. I loved reading, losing myself in stories, and being outside with animals, exploring the many little worlds around me. Those hours of solo play shaped my sense of curiosity, creativity, and independence.

At the same time, my home life was unstable and often tense. There was a strong presence of addiction, with alcohol and drug use that went beyond recreational, along with fighting, screaming, and a constant underlying tension. Discipline was rigid and militant, and there were patterns of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse. Living in that environment gave me an early awareness of how deeply experiences live in the body and mind, and it sparked a drive to understand, support, and guide others in a more embodied, compassionate way.

Those early traits – curiosity, creativity, attentiveness, and a love of play – combined with navigating a difficult and unpredictable home life, laid the foundation for the work I do today. They led me to explore the body, movement, and somatic healing as tools for connection, empowerment, and lasting change. Looking back, I see how both my natural inclinations and the challenges I faced shaped the heart of Wild Sage Healings and the way I guide people toward feeling safe, present, and at home in their bodies.
