Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Wendt
Hi Josh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a content creator and streamer, I always wanted a place to create content, meet like-minded people and compete in gaming tournaments. There was nothing like this in my town in Ohio I grew up in. After studying filmmaking and photography at the New York Film Academy in New York City I realized if I wanted to pursue film at the highest level I would need to live in New York or Los Angeles. I decided to create content on YouTube and stream on Twitch. I ran with this and through YouTube and Twitch was able to make passive income that I in turn invested into various businesses. When we made the decision three years ago to move down to the Lowcountry I moved quickly to create our passion project. Forming Zero Dark in 2023 with the mindset of photography and videography and a vision of opening a space for gaming and content creation we opened Zero Dark in Bluffton in January of 2025. Zero Dark is South Carolina’s Home for Gaming, Esports, Photography, Videography & Entertainment.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with anything in life there are ups and downs. I look at the journey as a road. The road is the greatest teacher there is. It will pick you up and bring you down. This journey has had challenges and there will be challenges in the future. That being said, when adversity hits you have two choices. You can run away from adversity or run towards it. I choose to run towards adversity because every time I do I learn something about myself as a human being. I believe the greatest leaders are the individuals who solve the most problems. There are three words that have gotten me to where I am today. Those words are; Just Keep Grinding.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My wife Alyssa Wendt has been with me every step of this journey. She didn’t know exactly what I was building but believed in me and what I was capable of and is our Chief Operating Officer at Zero Dark.
My parents David & Tracy Wendt are our biggest fans and although they didn’t understand either what I was creating they have supported and continue to support this venture. We wouldn’t be here without them.
Alyssa’s mother Jean has helped us so much with our kids Adam, Elijah & Lilyana. She has believed in us and knew that building our own business would require sacrifice and time. All of this wouldn’t be possible without her.
My brothers Michael & Jason Wendt share in my passion and love for gaming. Michael introduced me to Call of Duty and specifically trickshotting in the game which changed my life. It taught me how to find your niche within gaming and content creation.
My sisters Joy, Mariah, Elizabeth & Angela have always been massive supporters of any venture I pursued. They believe in Zero Dark but moreover believe in us.
My grandparents Howard & Barbara Wright have been mentors to us with business and giving us a helping hand whenever needed. Whether it was tools to high level conversations they have always been there for me.
All of these individuals inspire me, and this process has taken a village.
